I just received my new Bofa Sonesta credit card. I have a credit line of $4000. I have to pay a house roof silicone coating, which will cost me $4500 before the job is done, and $4000 after, for a total price of $8500. So I requested online a credit line increase to $8500.
I should receive a response within a week. Will it be a yes or no response, or can they give me something in between? For example $6000 .
Call them up and explain the situation to them. If your credit profile supports it, they should reconsider the credit line.
If that doesn't help, try calling again another day, then maybe a 3rd time and ask to escalate, unless they're giving you a super hard no. But I haven't personally done this. Sometimes you get a helpful rep willing to go the distance for you.
I tried to contact support by online Chat and he replied that he's only telling people how to make an online increase request.
Should I wait to receive the decision by mail, or should I call before? or after in case it's a negative response?
BoA can and does at their discretion give an increase that is less than what was requested.
CLI requests referred to an analyst for review normally get reviewed by the end of the next business day. If approved the change would be visible online within minutes and you'd get an email congratulating you on the increase.
