SCT noob questions

Hi everyone and happy friday.

I have 2 questions about sct.

1)  When you fill your shopping cart and go to checkout, do you register with the site or do you check out as guest?

2)  I know that SCT are soft pulls, does having a fraud alert on your CR kill your shot at getting a popup ?

Thanks

Re: SCT noob questions

1) You check out as a guest and once approve, you exit the buying process...

2) Having fraud alert on your report can interfere with it but it is a YMMV thing.

Re: SCT noob questions

Are there any other requirements? I mean, I get it's a popup so they likely have 0 information beforehand but I cannot get the popup at all. I've tried 3 browsers, disabled all popup blockers, tried private mode, cleared the cookies, cache and history. I even tried a different computer. No popup on overstock, express or sportswear or whatever it's called. Are they just like "nope!  We can sense your poor credit from here!"?

Re: SCT noob questions

I believe the fraud alert on your credit file is the reason you are not getting the pop up's.  However, it's a YMMV thing.

Thank you for the wealth of knowledge I have learned from these forums. I am logging off as of November 9, 2022. I wish everyone great success.

More than likely it's the fraud alert keeping it from happening.

Re: SCT noob questions

If you think about it, if you have a fraud alert you should be relieved that the SCT isn't working.  If it worked, that would indicate a problem.

The SCT is instant credit by definition, in other words they do a SP and deem you eligible for credit.  There is no way to work verification into the process, since if they are unable to give you credit right away it's no longer considered 'instant'.

The whole purpose of a fraud alert is to prevent this very thing.  Smiley Happy

Re: SCT noob questions

Just a suggestion to read prior to considering applying for any SCT cards. SCT cards are all issued by Comenity Bank.

It's always helpful to research and be informed before making decisions, especially if you are new to SCT as you mention. Smiley Happy

Re: SCT noob questions

Thx everyone for the replys. I kinda figured the fraud alert was the main problem.  Im guessing that the FA

will also cut down on the pre-approved offers in the mail  Kudos for the help

I think this also answers my question about why I wasn't getting the popup. If I'm not getting it at any time on the site, that just must mean they did the softpull and determined I didn't qualify. Pretty simple solution as to why I'm not getting the popup!

Assuming you don't have a fraud alert, if you don't get the pop-up it could also mean that your information isn't an exact match.  If your address is "123 Highway 12" and you enter "123 Hwy 12" that could even be enough of a difference, since it's not an exact match.  Smiley Wink

You can get your 'standardized' address from the USPS website if you're unsure of how it should be exactly.
