As it is my one year with VS phone this weekend to see if they had any offers for an increase. Told that I had great payment history and appreciated how I handled my account for the past year, but there was a fraud alert on my account popping up on the accout. She checked my other 2 accounts with Comenity Bank and stated they both reflected it. I told her that none of my monitoring services for all 3 CRA show a fraud alert. She said a supervisor would call me in the next 5-7 days to discuss it further.
I checked all CRs - no fraud alerts open, talked with EQ about open dispute status and asked if they had any fraud alert on my account, they said no.
Received new VS Forever card in mail today, called to register, asked if they showed a fraud alert on my account, they said they would have to transfer me to fraud/acct protection dept. Spoke with F/AP dept, she said that she could not see anything on my account, after talking a bit, she said that it would have to be on one of my credit reports, I told her that I had checked and not the case. She than said they are not allowed to tell us if they see a fraud alert on a CR as they can not always be sure who they are talking to. But that she said I definately should contact the CRAs...not which one, but that was all she was allowed to tell me!
Paid for new reports on myFICO for EQ and EX - EX has a HP from Comenity Bank/VS dated today! WTH!!
Called VS number on back of card, the fellow I spoke with said he could see that their "Fraud Dept" pulled a HP of my CR. Not discussed, not approved...?
Called the F/AP Dept again, was told that they could not see that information and would get a supervisor on the phone...holding for over 25 minutes.
Just got off the phone with a supervisor. She said that a request for a CLI will cause a hard pull. I said that the fraud dept pulled the CR without conversation regarding CLI or that it would occur. She said she will research and get back 2 me about having the inquiry removed and talk to the person who pulled it to train them on listening to the customer better!?? I asked her why it would take 2 weeks and alot of hesitation in responding, apparently she had to check with someone else or "the book" to see how best to respond.
As I understand from all the discussions here, VS is a SP for CLI?!
Will see what happens and update, but I did not think your credit report could be HP without discussion or verbal approval?
So...How is everybody elses's Monday going! ![]()
Ouch!
My first CLI request with VS was a hard pull. Fine print says they can. They HP my EX. After that all softs. I have had the card just short of 2 years. Only HP was the first CLI.
Not nice!
It seems like this fraud issue with Comenity is becoming common when one has multiple accounts. This is like the third post I've read regarding that. Not sure what it's really all about. ![]()
Keep both your credit and your body in top shape!
they are really a disaster if you have to talk to them... I can't believe they are not only still in business but seem to be picking off Sync Cards left and right and thriving but they are IDIOTS... untrainded idiots but none the less a DISASTER of epic size... ALWAYS!
I just try not to talk to anyone at the company, I do everything on line and cross fingers I never have to call.
I chose the Comenity bank cards because they were supposed to be soft pulls. I have 8 credit cards. 7 are Comenity. Most cobranded with Visa and mC. I now have 9 hard pulls on my Equifax. That's why I am in the garden for 2 years while I add money to my 7 bank accounts.

Oh gosh I sure hope they don't HP. I just had a VS CLI yesterday among some of my other Comenity cards.
Well i guess we all now know Victoria's secret...its HP on cli's!! ![]()
But in all seriousness...although there are info as far as cli is only SP for a particular lender, always think that you might end up with a HP. If you think you can live with it being a possible HP, then go for it. If not...then maybe put it off for another time.
Boy, can I appreciate what you went through with Comenity. Their Fraud department is a fraud. They have no idea of which they speak, and because of them I've had two of my cards (Total Rewards & Virgin America) temporarily closed, because of some invisible fraud, they could never explain. Their Supervisers are a joke. I know more about credit and fraud then they ever will, which doesn't make me sleep better, or trust their knowledge, and that's not how it should be. Good luck to you.
