Sapphire Reserve

Hello, long time lurker first time post. I’m looking to add a chase sapphire reserve to my wallet, but nervous to apply.

Does the chase pre approval site list the sapphire reserve as one that you can be pre approved for? There Seems to be conflicting info out there on this, some say it is listed others say it’s not.
When I fill out the pre approval form on chase website I get the slate and the preferred cards are my 2 options but no reserve.
The preferred preapprival shows a fixed APR of 21.99 instead of a range, which from what I’ve read, is a good thing?

I’ve been a long time chase customer. I’ve had Checking accounts with them 10 years, a freedom card with 10.4k limit for 8 years, freedom unlimited 4.8k limit 6 years.
115k annual income
726 TU
724 ex
713 eq
11 years longest card account
6.7 AAoA
One negative on my report from 15 months ago is what has me concerned. Car loan I co signed for was 30 days late. I’m 0/24 on cards.should I go for it or wait for the negative to have less of an impact?

Re: Sapphire Reserve

Everyone has a different profile. A few months ago I checked the pre qual page of Chase and had nothing. Durring the summer I had the Preferred card off and on with a green check mark as well. They all went away and then boom I had a message saying that I was already approved for a Chase Freedom Unlimited with a set limit and a specific set rate. So maybe you do have it available.

Re: Sapphire Reserve

Welcome to the forums Smiley Happy

Two suggestions popped into my head - first is to go to your local Chase branch - when the teller pulls up your account - often times they can see if you are pre qualified for CSR - and they are likely encouraged to offer it to you. Second - if you do app on line and do not get an instant approval - I would call the backdoor numbers and speak to an underwriter and explain the 30 late was on a co - signed account. Yes you are marked for it - but the fact that it was not you being late - might hold some sway if the UW has any descretion - they can manualy approve you if the computer denies you.

True, maybe I’ll see if I can make it into a branch this afternoon before they close and see what pops up!

While a teller can sometimes help; you would be better served by speaking with a personal banker.  Just ask if you have any in-branch approvals.

You would need to speak with a personal banker anyway if you have any approvals and want to submit an application; as part of the process they are required to check a box indicating you are actually present in the bank and they verified your ID.

Re: Sapphire Reserve

I will confirm that indeed it does show sometimes on the offer link on the Chase website. I had it show this past August 2018 but mistakenly applied for a Delta Gold instead and was at 5/24 which caused offer to disappear. I still applied on election night ( Nov 6th 2018 ) and was given 30 day message which changed to 7-10 day that same evening. I just left it in the hands off Chase and didn't make any calls and on the evening of the 7th I logged into Chase site and noticed CSR was showing up. I got the card today (Nov 9th 2018). Really quick. Been longtime Chase customer with Checking and had CFU for about 2 yrs. Keep us posted on your adventure!

Re: Sapphire Reserve

@68w I think you have good potential for a favorable approval on that card.  Obviously YMMV, but as an example: When I cold app'd for the CSR I had a score hovering around 700, Util around 11% (Now at 1%), and 3 inquiries w/ 2 new accounts a year prior.  I had no banking relationship with Chase, so the only thing I had a step up on was a larger salary.

In my mind, being a long time Chase client with 2 good cards and 0/24, I have a hard time seeing any reason they wouldn't look favorably on those #'s unless I'm missing something.  The advice, if your'e close, to visit a teller and ask for any pre-approvals is a good idea if it's possible.  Good luck!

Re: Sapphire Reserve

Apply in person. You have a good chance of getting approved based on my experience. My scores were less then yours when I was approved.

Re: Sapphire Reserve

Good to know! Although makes me more nervous about applying for it since I have yet to see it listed for myself as a preapproval.
It’s interesting that the preappoval for the preferred now indicates the signup offer is 60k points, but still no CSR
I’ll stop into a branch tomorrow and see what they can see on their end. I’ll let you know

Re: Sapphire Reserve

You could always just accept the CSP offer then after a year ask to upgrade to CSR. That's what my plan is in about 2 months. Good luck!
