@Zoostation1 wrote:Capital gaver did that same targeted preapproval offer to me on a watered down Quicksilver rather than SavorOne. Doing the prequals via the normal website check I was only getting the for good credit version with no sub, no 0% and the highest rate. Did your offer also have a slightly better regular APR than the for good credit version?
It was slightly better, at 27.74% APR after 9 months at 0% (the "good credit" version is 28.49% and no 0% introductory period). The highest APR for the "excellent credit" version is 27.99%.
It's also possible they simply haven't updated the APR on the pre-approval page in a few months. But if it's accurate, it might be an "excellent credit" SavorOne without the SUB, or a hybrid between the two.
Or it might be a "good credit" version with a 0% period, and a slightly lower APR afterwards.
I have no idea if or how these different flavors of SavorOne fit into Cap One's "buckets."
There's been some DPs from other posts and other sites that the "for good credit" versions are not treated like sub prime cards and they're still are World Elite MCs instead of platinum. It appears that for Cap One the for good credit designation is really just about the sub and APR and less about being stuck in a garbage bucket (unless you're approved with one of those $1k or less SLs. I was only approved for $3k on mine, but if they were willing to give me a $1500 CLI on a QS1 (PC to VentureOne shortly after) with 7 months of heavy usage (despite being a lower tier card yet) I think there's at least some growth potential on my SavorOne with it getting the bulk of my spend.

In the end I couldn't take it anymore, and I applied from the main Capital One page. And I was approved for the "good credit" version with the slightly higher APR, and no 0% period. That was a bit of a bummer.
But - even though I didn't get the 0% APR period I was expecting, I still got approved for a MUCH higher SL than I anticipated. I had been expecting around a $3,000 SL, or maybe $2,000 on the low end. Instead, they gave me a $5,000 SL, my 2nd highest so far.
I called Capital One and they said they couldn't do 9 months at 0% or the slightly lower APR. I suspect that there was something in my profile that made them uncomfortable for the APR, and that might have remained the case even if I applied from that offer. But they weren't so uncomfortable that they couldn't give me a $5K SL.
Overall, I'm happy with this.
Update: I realize that this thread might get renamed and moved to Credit Card Approvals. If it doesn't get locked, I'll update with the score(s) and other interesting details Capital One sends me in their approval letter.
Update 2: Forgot to mention that I kept Experian frozen, and Cap One pulled my Equifax and TU, so I avoided the dreaded C1 triple pull! (My pre-application DPs are at the bottom of the first post in this thread.)
My understanding with those offers is that if you don't apply from a link in the offer you're guaranteed to not get that slightly better offer.

I did find a DP on Reddit that indicated that's not necessarily the case (that person ended up getting the "Excellent Credit" version).
I wasn't counting on a lower APR, the 0% interest period or even the SUB, so I was willing to take the risk either way.
