I have a discover it with 12500 limit. I wanted to get the double cash back offer so applied the for a new card yesterday. But it was denied. Current TU fico is 665. AAoA is low at 14 months and have a couple of paid charge off accounts that will fall off in 12/2016. You think it's worth trying a recon. I don't mind the hard pull because the application itself was an impulsive thing I did late night. I already have a Citi double cash card as an AU ( was denied the card when I applied last month). I'm in two minds because of the AAoA hit.
Never heard of being able to get a second Discover before. I get being disappointed about missing the promo, but why apply for a new card that you already have?
Don't see them overturning this. You're just trying to get around their policy that existing cardholders cannot have the promo. I'm quite sure they are smart enough to see what you are trying to do!
If they had not given me the promo (I asked before the "no existing cardholder" thing came about), I wouldn't be applying and trying to get around it...it's just life sometimes. You miss out on things. Not the end of the world and certainly not worth a duplicate card.
Discover was the bank that figured out how to stop people from exploiting bonuses: by doubling the rewards for all purchases for a year rather than a fat bonus for a spend amount in a short period of time. So I'm not at all surprised Discover won't let you have a second IT card.
I been told by one of the reps that you can't have two of the same card but you can have one of each that they offer.
