Re: Secured Card Denial

No its not just inaccurate information, it has several reasons for you to dispute. At that time covid was part of the reason and there was also affected by natural disaster. Why dont you try to go to their dispute site before calling me a liar.
The CARES Act, which was signed into law on March 27, 2020, Act amends the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) to stop adverse credit reporting during the COVID-19 crisis—but only under specific circumstances. (See 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2(a)(1)(F).)
In my case, i was sick with covid, had to provide medical certificate and letter from work. So, pls dont ever call me a liar. Those were the times i was really sick and i was scared. You telling me this and calling me a liar really hurt me bec you dont know what ive been through. I didnt want to hurt my credit so i did everything to fix it. It was a tough time for me. I couldnt see my children for a long time. I couldnt even get up the stairs without running out of breath. I couldnt go to work for awhile. Pls dont judge people unless you truly know them. Thank you.

Never called you a liar, and not judging. I'm sorry for your struggles, I really am. I know how horrible it can be, and I got covid myself.

But, I said if OP is trying to retroactively dispute for covid related reasons, *they* would be lying, especially if the accounts were behind before covid. I was quoting your post, but addressing the OP.

Also, the section of FCRA you quoted specifically says

(iii) Exception

Clause (ii) shall not apply with respect to a credit obligation or account of a consumer that has been charged-off.

So collections/charge offs are excluded from the amendment. The amendment is basically just for arranging some relief if falling on tough times due to COVID, NOT for getting collections/charge offs deleted, even if they were a result of covid. In your case you just got lucky after your disputes.

Re: Secured Card Denial

Maybe it's your utilization? Is that high on the cards that you do have....?

Just caught up on the thread. Given what you said.. I would say keep paying the cards (your'e doing the right thing), get in contact with them to see if there are any helpful payment plans, maybe you can course-correct (if you haven't done so already). And the cards you have are good ones, if you can chop down the balances that will really boost your scores back up. Times have changed, lenders can be more human now than they used to be, they are.

Shared this thread with someone else:

(I know it's not the same situation, but maybe they are friendlier.....? ?? Sharing just in case it helps).

Kudos to you for turning this around. You're doing all of the right things, paying off the debts, and rebuilding.
