So I finally decided to break the ice !! Applied and was instantly approved! However I was quite surprised with such a low CL of $2000. Was expecting more since I have other cards that make this one look small. But the good side is that Ive placed my foot into American Express officially. Feels Good!!!! Went Ahead and also applied for the Walmart Card and was approved for the Mastercard version at 5k. Good day!

Question: Does Amex usually start with low CL and work their way up? Is there a way to to increase CLI upon card activation?

Done for good now! The GARDENING HAS BEGUN!

Congrats! That's the same limit they started me with. Be sure to check your account page and see what member date they give you.

I actually got my AMEX in the mail today. Called to activate and the system sent me to a very nice lady. She told me about the rewards and asked me if I needed anything. My score on the paper work was 751. She told me to call back in 60 days and request a CLI over the phone if I wanted too. She was great and welcomed me to the family. I also found out I can pay my car ins with my AMEX with no fee. Going to do that to help me get the signup bonus Smiley Happy

Congrats on getting your card. Mine should be here soon too. As far as member date I had called in Amex this morning after reading quite a few threads on here about backdating member since date. Anyways I was an AU on my fathers account back in 2006 and they had luckily found that and told me that they will change the date back to 2006 for the new card. Question is that I have logged into my online account a few times to check the change and it has not been changed yet. Anyone know how long it takes for them to change it online? I know they said that I will recieve a new card within 7 - 10 days which im in no rush for, but I would like to see that member date change.

I have no idea. I got my card in 4 business days btw. I'm assuming it will update in a couple of days. If it's still not done when you receive and activate your card I would call em back! Smiley Happy congrats to you as well!
