Should I or better to wait??

Hi everyone Smiley Happy

I'm probably answering my own question here, but here goes!

I recently apped (02/15) apped for the Chase Freedom and Chase Sapphire. I was pre-approved at the time for the Freedom and Slate on their site, but used my mailer for the Freedom for the same benefits but lower apr. I was insta-approved for the Freedom for $3000.00 SL ! and denied for the CSP with the dreaded 7-10 day message.

I got my letter in the mail a week later:
"Too many requests for credit or opened accounts with us". It was printed the 16th, so obviously it was an auto-rejection.

I decided to hold off on the recon and figured I would garden for 3-6 months before re-applying. I've been under the weather for about the past week too so I know that isn't helping, and I didn't feel like getting grilled on the phone just yet. Welp for giggles I went and checked pre-quals today. Cap1 came back with the Venture, V1, and Quicksilver (all with fixed apr's). Chase came back with Freedom, Slate and CSP.

My reports have not updated yet with my 2 new accounts.
Freedom 3K SL
AmEx ED 5K SL

My Cap1 is hitting the 6 month mark this week once it reports. I've been using my Freedom and Cap1 to show some good usage as I was planning to garden anyway. I figured I wouldn't maximize scores this month (by leaving other cards at 0 balance and my Cap1 or Freedom at 9%). So my entire util should be about 11% across my 3 accounts.

No baddies, last 30-day late was March 2013 on a paid off car loan opened in 2007 that I was joint on.

| AAoA: EQ: 7.8YRs - TU: 4.8YRS - EX: 4.8YRS | HPs: 2 EQ - 1 TU - 5 EX | UTIL: 9% : is what is showing on my reports.
Current scores in my siggy, but jic... EQ: 723 | TU: 716 | EX: 695
All of the inq's are from the past year, however 2 of the EX's are within the past month and 1 will be 6 months old this coming week.

I know pre-approvals are YMMV but thinking this would be a good time as any so my inq's can start to age and I can garden for a while. My scores are probably going to drop with the new accounts... though I already took the 8pt. hit from those 2 inq's on EX.. and Chase only pulled EX for the Freedom. I thought of apping for Cap1 but honestly I don't want to miss out on the CSP seeing as I have the Freedom, and I may be traveling here in the next few months.

So what do you all think? Smiley Very Happy

Re: Should I or better to wait??

Eh. With having just been denied two weeks ago I'd err towards waiting a few months. Probably just looking at another denial at this time.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. I also am kind of excited as I have never prequalified for it before. I thought I might have a chance because the letter was automatic and the prequals seem pretty solid.
