Should I reapply again for Chase Sapphire Reserved?

I applied tuesday for there card, but I got the 30 days reply. And I called recon line just now and told me that they turned down my application due to Sapphire Preferred already exist. I told them that I downgraded my CSP monday to CFU so I can get the CSR. And the rep told me to apply again since they didn't pull any hard inquiry on my report. But I don't believe her because I know the computer will automatically pull the report when we do application.  They just want me to product change my card to reserved but I won't get the bonus points. I told her that I got the bonus points of my CSP like past 24 months already so it doesn't make sense if they don't allow me to get the CSR bonus points. Honestly, I'm frustrated with them. I've been a loyal customer 4 years ago, paid all my balance in full every month.  What will I do now? Should I reapply or get a different travel card instead?

Have you tried apply or call recon again? I kinda in the same situation as you, but haven't actually do a PC yet. This is scary though.

You should be able to see in your report if you got a hard inquiry or not.  It's possible their app system checks some basic rules before pulling your credit.
