Simmons Bank says unfreeze ARS?!

Hello Myfico community!

I have a rather unusual circumstance that I'm not sure what to do because it's never happened to me before and I don't know what to do.

So on June 14th, I fell out of the garden and applied for a couple Lines of Credit accounts and this Simmons Bank Credit card.

I got immediate decisions for the other tradelines but Simmons Bank stated further review.  I figured it was a denial since the other three (3) times when I applied they were denied.

I received this letter today from Simmons stating to unfreeze my Advanced Resolution Services (ARS) credit report.  I forgot I froze it because I froze that account and IDA, now Sagestream,  years ago and never looked back or had any problems.

Previous reasons for denial from this lender is too many inquiries.  I have 22 on TU, 18 on EX and 8 on EQ.  My scores range from 760-803.

Do you think with me unlifting the security freeze I may finally be accepted or do you think I could still be denied.  I don't want to go through unfreezing if it's going to be denied.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Re: Simmons Bank says unfreeze ARS?!

You probably already took a hit on TU from them so lifting it if you think it might help certainly doesn't hurt at all?  Just my thoughts and agree having those frozen has never impacted me before it might of caused manual UW, but never ended up causing an issue.

Still guessing it will yield a denial with than many inquiries as if you have those high scores and alot of inquiires probably means you have a decent amount of credit and new credit which simmons in the past have never liked.

Re: Simmons Bank says unfreeze ARS?!

I have always heard that Simmons is very conservative. I think it would be unlikely you would get approved with that number of inquiries, and they may pull another inquiry on your TU after you unfreeze the ARS. I say skip this card entirely or apply for it again in two years after your inquiries are gone and your accounts have matured. TBH, I have my ARS and Sagestream frozen and it has yet to be an issue for me either. I would probably only bother unfreezing either of them if it is a card I really want or that will earn me a lot of money.

Why did you apply again?

>3/2016 EX 644 CK-TU 642 CK-EQ 660 WalMart- 671.
>3/2025 All 3 reports 845 - 850(F8) F9s = 835ish but my app finger is still twitching

WS will not grant me a CLI die to me permanently freezing my SageStream report. I did that after I had been approved for the card. Oh well, not very interested in thawing that report anyway, so WS store card can stay SD'd!
