Southwest Cards

Hello everyone!

First post here and looking for some guidance. Currently rebuilding my credit after some student loans went into collections(and are now paid off). Current Fico 8 scores are:

EX: 650

TU: 643

EQ: 661

Currently I have two cards, Wells Fargo Platinum($1900) and a Discover IT Student($1500). I am looking to get some more cards to help rebuild, as these are the only two things reporting. I have no recent lates, but 2 in the past 7 years from the student loans. What are my chances of approval?

Thank you!

Re: Southwest Cards

I Recently Got approved for the southwest premier card with a credit line of 3.4K. My scores were just around yours and i had one collection of 6K at the time (recently got it removed). But it can also be because I have had 3 years of on time payments of all my accounts and I have a chase sapphire which i pay on time in full so being chase is the lender they felt they could trust me with scores lower then the requirements.

Re: Southwest Cards

I also got my United Explorer with scores around/slightly lower than yours, so it's possible. I had a pre-approval in the United app. That's the only reason I applied.

I'm not sure if Southwest has a similar pre-approval process.

Either way, the Chase co-brands seem a bit easier to get than their core cards.

Re: Southwest Cards

Well, took the chance and applied today. Got the 30 day review message from the robo call. Fingers crossed, but worried for a denial.

Re: Southwest Cards

Hope it works out for you. Just wanted to inform you they didn't approve me right away. I had to do a verification and they were waiting for me to call in to verify. After that I was approved.

Re: Southwest Cards

Ended up getting a call to verify some information. Called, waited 2 hours on hold, but it was worth it! Approved and SL is $6,800!! That is more than triple what my highest CL was!
