So, just wondering if anyone has had this happen to them before and what the outcome was?
I applied for a Southwest Chase card on July 7th. Of course got the message that more time was needed to review. Then I received an email with the 30 day notice. I still had not received any denial letters or emails for that matter. Today I joined Myfico and was reading through other forum posts. I saw where many had called a backdoor number or status number. So I called the status number and it says the impending doom message of 7-10 days. Well it clearly has been longer than 7 to 10 days...even business days for that matter. Just wondering if anyone has had this happen? I am wanting to book some airfare and have been waiting to see if I was approved. Of course the airline has already raised the price over $20 per ticket since July 7th. I did input my RR number.
Thank you!

Yes it frequently changes from 30 days to 7-10 days.
I think it increases the likelihood of it being a denial, but it's still not definite.
Thank you!
I checked the phone status message again today. It is still saying the 7 to 10 business day message. It has been 19 days since I applied. I would have thought I would have received the denial notice by now for sure...or if by some miracle, the card. lol
Not really sure what to think. I will update as soon as I get any information!
Thanks!
I have my fingers crossed for you!
Chase likes to play games on approvals with these crazy wait periods from what I've seen on here. 30 days and 14 days are better than 7-10 day periods from the postings. Just wait it out and you'll most likely get the card. They're probably verifying something on the backend of the application for whatever reason they come up with for a manual review.
Thank you!
HI Everyone,
It's been a bit since I posted on this thread. I ended up initially getting a decline and just didnt call the recon number because I thought the chances were still slim. Well my credit score jumped a bit in those past few months, so last week I thought what the heck, Im gonna try again. Well I got a message immediately asking to verify my income. So I thought ok this might be good. Then I called the status number and got the dreaded 7 to 10 day message. So yesterday, I got the decline letter stating my "obligations were to high relative to income". So I thought this morning, Im going to call the recon number...all they can say in no right?!
So I call and the lady takes all my info. I tell her that I only included my income as the card is just in my name and not in my husbands, nor did I add him as an authorized user. She says let me read the disclaimer to you....after reading it says that if you are over 21 and use another income to help pay obligations, that can be used. I never knew that. So we added on my husbands income and she resubmitted and whola' ....I got approved for $2K limit!
Overjoyed! I have wanted this card for awhile!!
I wish now I would have called the recon number months ago!
Thanks!
Congrats!!! Funny that is the same thing they did to me when I reconned, the man was like let me re-read this disclosure to you lol. I hate to add in my DH income, but it's cool that they stress you can most people don't know that. I still refused to do it though oddly enough, because if anything happens I want to make sure my income would support my debt alone.
