Okay, I get it, your very fond of Barclay, they have been good to you. I feel that way about Capital One. And we can agree it is what it is and let's move on!
Cool... and I'm glad you came to terms that Barclays isn't the card for you with your 9 year old CO.
My brother burned me for $3000 about 10 years ago (never tell your family when you have a lotto windfall) and he knows not to ask me for anything ever again because quite honestly I wouldn't loan him enough money to buy a double cheeseburger off the $1 menu.
Moving on now... ![]()

@Anonymous wrote:Sorry to hear that...will you recon again?
No, I will not pursue them anymore.
Cool, save the HP i guess and garden time...make sure you build a higher fence so you're not tempted to come out of the garden again
😂😂😂😂Yes I need a 10 ft. fence......I do realize my weakness! I'm happier about not getting a hard pull then if I got the credit card. Wouldn't it be nice if we could apply and then decide if we want the cc with the APR and CL before the hard pull. I can wish can't I, lol!
LOL, yes, that would be nice
@Anonymous wrote:Step out the garden, did my homework to determine if I had a chance and applied for the Barclay cash back card. I was immediately declined. I called the recon line and was told that I had a charge off with them from 9 years ago, yes 9 years!!!! This doesn't appear on any one my bureau rpts. The good thing is that the decline took place before they pulled my credit rpt, so I have no inquiry. I tried to explain the circumstances behind the charge off and even asked how long will this effect me, they didn't know. So I have now come to terms that Barclay is not in the cards for me, no biggie! Just was surprised that this old old debt is still in their database.
Thank you for the data point. Unfortunately, some lenders have a lengthy blacklist. I've never had a Barclaycard, so I'm not directly familiar if/how people can move off the blacklist. Hopefully, others can offer experience.
IME, I've been able to get back in with nearly every lender who was IIB, even though it took time. Discover took 9 1/2 years after my BK! I haven't tried BofA yet, but we'll see.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Some lenders (Cap One, Sync, etc) are quite forgiving and others (AMEX, NFCU, etc.) have an elephant's memory. It is what it is, and we all just have to work with the lenders willing to work with us.

What creditors have let you back in?

Comenity, Synchrony, Citibank, DSNB, and Discover were IIB and let me back in. BoA was IIB (I had an MBNA card) but I have yet to apply for one of their products. AMEX was closed prior to BK.
Sorry to hear. Didn't know Barclay held long time grudges ![]()

Thanks for sharing your experience.
How much was Citibank IB for and how long after discharge did they let you back in.
