The Ring is the card most suited for my personality. I'm not that into rewards and perks and stuff, because I only want to buy what I need, when I need it, from whom I want to buy it. It seems to me that the Ring, instead of giving you bells and whistles gives you low fees and low interest, and less to think about. I like that.

Eloquently written. There may yet be cards out there that could fit your needs if you shop at specific places but you're right...if you don't want to worry about where you shop then the Ring is definately a very good fit for you. I got mine in March and never looked back. I got approved and immediately called recon and got an increase less than 10 minutes after I got approved. I recommend you try that since they use the same hard pull. At that point on the phone you can also try to move balances around from your other cards. Smiley Happy

Thank you SecretAzure. I guess I'm going to try that, and I'll let you know how it turns out. I need to wait 4 or 5 days until the application status page clears first Smiley Happy

Now see, you have more nerve than I do Smiley Happy  If I got approved for the Ring I'd be happy with whatever CL they assigned to me. I'd be afraid to recon, for fear that they would reconsider their decision to have given me the card in the first place Smiley Happy

Good luck!! I've never heard of anyone getting denied after they got approved. At worst, they can say they can't grant you anymore credit. I did my research before applying...I eyed the card for a year and a half before applying. My TU was at 777 when I applied. If you do get denied though, don't be afraid to call recon and explain why you want them and how you got so many inquiries. They are very understanding.

OK SecretAzure.... I haven't found them to be so understanding in the past, but I'm hoping you're good luck for me Smiley Happy Thanks again

Re: Strategy for timing application for Barclay Ring

Once you have the card calling to recon the limit is no big deal. They will not rescind the account unless they planned to do that you in an internal audit.

Thanks Nixon Smiley Happy

Let's hope I get to make type of recon, and not the other kind Smiley Happy

In about 3 more days I'm going to take the leap Smiley Happy

Re: Strategy for timing application for Barclay Ring

I think I'm going to have to postpone applying for a couple of months.

just started a little experiment with increasing my overall utilization from below 1 percent to something closer to 5 percent, in order to gauge the short term effect of increased utilization on my FICO scores.

It looks like that little experiment is going to knock my scores down until I start reversing the process  Smiley Happy

Re: Strategy for Barclay Ring app - update 5/23

I applied earlier this evening, got 10 day notice. Should I call recon right away or wait until granted or denied?

Re: Strategy for Barclay Ring app - update 5/23

I applied, got 10 day notice. Called recon the next morning to let them know I'd transfer limit. They said I can't get recon any more, and need to spend some time away from applying for credit.

Well I'm done asking for stuff.

Barclays is like that... If I were you, I would I apply for another card to show them that you can get a credit with someone else Smiley Happy,,,, Of course, if you need it and your profile supports it !!!
