no, it needs to have CONGRATULATIONS in the wording.

I believe "Congratulations" is the key... here's a picture of what to look for:

(Also note the specific APR)

Yeah you want to look for the Congratulations. That's when Cap One is basically handling you the card Smiley Happy

LOL!  Smiley Very Happy

If they ever decide to offer me a better APR, I actually plan to!  I have one remaining 'baddie' that should age off this summer; once that happens I plan to seriously start checking out their pre-qual offers.

I also have an offer for a Venture at the same rate, and a Venture One for 1% less, so since they generally get more generous starting limits I'll probably stick with one of those two.

A year or so ago there was always a pre-qual for a no-frills 'Platinum' MasterCard at an even lower APR, but I don't get that anymore.  It seems Capital One wants everbody who qualifies to have a rewards card now (with a higher APR).  Smiley Sad

Here, you can use mine:

Re: Stupid Cap 1 Pre Approval Question

It's pretty funny that all of you responded to the OP but appeared to have not read the OP. He is pre-qualified, as it says right in his/her OP.
You will see this wording if you are not pre-approved:
"(First Name) we couldn't match your records to a card offer.

But based on your answers, we think you might like this card."

If you are pre-qualified. You will see the line the OP quoted right in his OP.

"Don't Appy Until It Says The Card We've Selected For You Is.........." Uggghhhh. It really bothers me when people reply to a post with completely incorrect/made-up information.

So. To finally give the OP an answer to his question, I would advise against adding another Cap One card. Hopefully pretty soon your score will improve enough to qualify for the premium Cap One cards. At that point, you can go ahead and apply for one of those cards, enjoy the much higher limits, and then merge if you so choose.

Good luck.

So last month I combined my Platinum card into my QS1 card.  All is good in the world...

Today, Cap 1's pre qual site says "We think you'll enjoy this pre qualified offer..." and is offering me the Platinum and the QS1 again.

I know its potentiall a 3 bureau hard pull, but I'm not planning on buying a car or house in the next 2 years, so I'm not worried about the HP.

Do you think its worth going after one or the other, and then in 6 months, combine them again into another card?  The QS1 will likely have a better starting limit, even though it has an AF.  If I can get a 6 month CLI on it, then combine it with the existing QS1, that might be the best bet?

Or will they even give me a 2nd QS1?
