Hey, All,
I've been trying to get a preapproval for the Verizon Visa with Synchrony, but they absolutely refuse to pass me. (I know, I know. Lucky me, I'm better off, etc. Haha). Just got denied again and I'm about ready to give up on them.
I usually get the "high risk source of application" denial reason when they send me a letter afterwards. I've done a bit of research on this, and apparently it's a non-credit-related denial where they reject you without even checking your credit and there seems to be a lack of consensus on what needs to be done to bypass it. One thing I've read is that it may be related to applying from certain devices or certain internet sources. However, I have tried switching devices, browsers, and internet sources to no avail.
I also have every bureau I know of frozen, including the weird ones like Clarity and Innovis. I tend to only unfreeze the big three when I apply for something. Could this be returning that denial message? I know Synchrony has some weird habits...
Anyway, if anyone has any idea how to successfully fix this denial reason, I would appreciate the information.
Thanks!
Simple solution unfreeze your reports, synch won't offer anything without that,
I've got plenty of approvals with other companies only messing with the big three bureaus. You're saying Synchrony wants access to all the little ones?
If that's the case, yeah, I won't even mess with them. Not worth the hassle.
Yes you have to unlock your reports for the 3 bureaus If you don't want to do that then synch isn't the bank for you .
Yes sync heavily relies on innovis/sagestream and other small bureaus and you won't get an approval with those being frozen ever. Use to not be the case but more information the better for lenders now. Same goes for bread backed cards. Also unlock the main 3 as they got to be able to soft pull your credit and it isn't always TU either with Sync.
@CreditCuriosity I think this is a YMMV situation. I have Clarity, Sage, Chex, Lexus all frozen and have been for ever. I've been approved by Synch for both of my cards with just TU thawed. Having said that, I have had to go through some additional verification steps but haven't been denied.
@Ushio @It may not be connection related. It could also be an issue with your physical address, if it is being associated with someone who had issues with the creditor previously that also could be a flag

No as OP mentioned his reports are frozen, Synch won't preapprove with reports frozen that is a fact .

I was more so referring to bread on sage/innovis and they hp one and sp another. Sync certainly has to have likely big 3 unfrozen to yield approval whether they go after a 3rd party such as innovis etc i would need to pull a current report but have no sync cards currently. I know was denied a bread card a year ago due to having innovis/sage frozen as they certainly got the hp. Had to unfreeze and apply again it yielded an approval so cost me a HP in that case. Life is just easier than trying to pull the freeze/unfreeze game imho these days just keep all thawed when applying and let the chips fall as they might as a HP isnt the end of the earth on an unexpected CRA. One thing is certain no one can do a SP unless current creditor for said account you have with them when CRA's are froozen as by definition they are locked.
I always unfreeze TU, EX, and EQ when I apply, I just don't mess with the little ones, especially the ones that want you to snail mail them to alter a freeze.
