So this is strange. I applied for Ebates visa and had to call in. Tried to send a text to my phone which I have had done in the past with other banks but they said "We are not able to send it and can't verify you." Oddly enough, SAME thing happened with Chase. They said the same thing.. they for some reason cannot send a text to my phone. However with Chase, they just asked me some public records questions instead. I guess Synchrony does not do that. Did I just waste that HP then? Also, I just switched providers from TMobile to Verizon I am wondering if it has to do with that but my wife and other people text me just fine.
I've had the same issue, fortunately, I've had nice CRs that were willing to verify in other ways, such as sending the code via email, then hanging up and calling me back to verify the phone number, and then I would give the code. I would call back and hope you get a rep that's not so lazy.
I'm on T-mobile and I have a message content blocker on my account. I had an issue a number of years ago where I would get texts that added unauthorized charges to my account. I've never bothered turning the service off, but I have read that this does prevent SOME commercial texts from going through. Usually though, they will send it and I just don't receive it. I've never had someone say they couldn't send it.
