Hi there! First time posting even though I have lurked for 2+ years . I came across this post while doing a search for TD Bank. (Not much on here...or anywhere for that matter!)
I applied March 16th for the card that is currently offering $200 back on $1500 spend. Once the application was submitted, I also received an error meassage. I thought it might be in an issue with my wifi, so I tried again a few more times, and got the same error message. The next day, I made a few more attempts, same reseult. I finally called, and was told that it was an issue on their end, but that the app had gone though. I was not instantly approved, and was told that I should get something in the mail in the next 5-7 days.
I check the mail after work today, and there is literally a stack of letters from TD Bank in my mailbox. I start opening them one by one- the first latter states that I am denied due to a previous attempt to apply for the card in the past 90 days... so do the second. third, fourth, and fifth one. The sixth one I opened was in regards to the initial application- denied with a 729 for a multitude of reasons, namely a 6 year old paid judgement, inquiries, and balances on installment/mortgage loans. (Fair enough, I knew I did not have enough info on TD's underwriting before going ahead with the app.) The seventh and eighth letters were the same as 1-5....
I checked my Experian report on March 18th here on myfico to make sure it was only one inquiry.
Is it petty of me to think that since I got denied, at least they wasted paper? Haha
