Target CLI Soft Pull DPs On Experian

Hello! I wamted to start this thread a a way to compare data points for Target credit line increases. I know many of us have been trying to figure out their timing and process for a while, especially those of us who have had the card a while without too many increases. Both myself and my spouse have a Target store card, so here I am going to share our DPs. Hopefully others can check their Experian profiles and see what Target has been up to. You can see these soft pulls by visitng your soft inquiries section on their dispute website. They may also appear on hard, printed copies Experian has mailed to you. I have not seen soft pulls from Target on TransUnion or Equifax for my husband or myself, so I think they are only pulling Experian for these CLIs.

For my card, it was opened in 06/2016 and currently has a $700 limit. I have only received one CLI since it was opened and all payments have been made on time. Experian is showing they have done only one soft pull on me recently, which was in December of 2019.Screen Shot 2020-06-27 at 12.24.13 AM.png

For my husband's card, the account was opened 06/2016 and currently has a $1,200 limit. No late payments ever. I beleive it started at $300 and has received two CLIs over the years. Experian is showing that Target has done 7 soft pulls during the past couple of years, usually during March, June, September, and December. Curiously, there is a separate entry for Target/TD Bank and just TD Bank. These are noth from Target though because that is my husband's only account with TD.Screen Shot 2020-06-27 at 12.15.58 AM.pngScreen Shot 2020-06-27 at 12.18.37 AM.png

Please share your data and see if you are getting pulled at the same times or if they are skipping times on doing the soft pulls. We are updating our incomes on these accounts monthly, so we should both be getting the same number of pulls. However, that is not what's happening, so I think it will be interesting to hear from others regarding their experiences. It may also explain why some of us are not getting CLIs. TIA for sharing!

Just curious, do you both spend regularly on your cards? If one card is getting more swipes, it may get more attention for CLI's.

Re: Target CLI Soft Pull DPs On Experian

For me, looks like they are SP'ing EX every three to five months, after statement close...  October 2019, December 2019, May 2020.

Card opened February 2019 with 1000$ SL.  CLI to $2400 after the December statement cut.  Reported January 2020.

I was kind of hoping the most recent SP would be June - and hoping for a CLI after the July statement or something - much better utilization and what not between the May statement cut and June statement cut, but no joy.  Guess it'll be a few more months before I get another CLI from them....

CONSTANT use on this card.  Only revolved a balance once or twice. Most times, DW and I PIF each month, allowing the new charges to post to the card.  Every now and then we pre-pay to zero, so a zero balance posts. We angered the TD demi-gods last year by paying too much and having a credit balance too often, so we just PIF the statement bal or a little above the statement bal each month.

Yeah, we basically alternate between the two cards on our trips to Target. I feel like we have been going a lot more lately too!

I know some people have said to let a balance report on the statement versus pre-paying to get a $0 statement balance. I usually pre-pay, so I may need to switch up the strategy and see if it yields more CLIs. But I will say I think it is interesting that Target has not pulled any soft inquiries for June. Maybe they are cutting back on CLIs during the pandemic?

Re: Target CLI Soft Pull DPs On Experian

I checked again today, and now my profile is showing a new soft pull from Target on 6/17/2020! So it appears they are at least considering doing a CLI. I also checked my husband's, and it is also showing a new soft pull on 6/17/2020. I think this is good news!

Re: Target CLI Soft Pull DPs On Experian

Applied for the card 8/2019.  I see a SP from TD/Target on 9/2019.  I see a new SP from TD Bank on 6/17/2020 <- Maybe good news?  My SL was 2k and they were IIB, so I am not expecting much growth.  It gets around 100-600 of use per month.  I let it report a balance occasionally provided most of my other cards are not reporting a balance.

Desired BK recovery line up complete 7/12/2021. Planning to garden until 8/2023 and potentially try for AMEX.
