Trying to rebuild my credit in a timely manner, so I'm planning on strategically adding a couple credit lines as my scores allow. Not doing it for the usage or that I NEED the line of credit, but really need to establish a few good accounts to really start gardening. I'm very impatient, not so good for someone who needs to rebuild their credit... Anyways, I was reading (extensively) about approvals and score averages for the Red Card. I shop at Target almost every other day and I really thought I'd have a somewhat decent approval chance. They said they needed 7-10 days blah blah, sent me a letter with the reason for my denial. I would understand if the denial made sense, but it doesn't. The score they have is 580, I have FICO 8 monitoring... and Vantage 8 (Which I know isn't a 'real' score...but it's sitting way higher at 659 and I sure wish it was!).
What the heck scoring model do they use?? Bankscore? Some old FICO version? I think it's really weird the score would be so different on my end?
I'm in California and they pulled my Equifax, FICO 8 indicates 606.
Whats hurting your score? Target likes around 620+. Where are you getting the FICO 8?
