I wouldn't say I'm addicted necessarily, as I defintely could stop at any point. I really do enjoy "the game" though at this point. That's really how I look at it presently... it's a game and like any game, it feels good when you "win" even if that feeling is short-lived and it's on to the next game. I do definitely look forward to the day, hopefully within the next year, where I don't care any longer and don't desire to play "the game" since it definitely does take up time and effort when you're moving around spends, micromanaging, etc.
I do also think that coming off of a rebuild, many like myself may feel the sense of accomplishment a little more than others. Especially if your low point wasn't long ago, maybe a year or two or slightly longer. Every CLI that I get further distances me from those dark days and serves as a reminder, no matter how small or temporary, that I've overcome that time and am in a much better place today.
Congrats on getting to this point "in the game"! I have almost every card I want now, and my next Am Ex cli will take me over $300k in cl's. Soft pull cli's are the way to go, and, like many, the new challenge for me is to consolidate what I can. I don't need that $50k limit card like I thought I did two years ago, and I'm not sure if BOA will combine my two cards to give me a $76k limit card (not losing sleep on this!). I enjoy reading on this site about everyone's increases/denials, its become a hobby, not an obsession.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts/insights with all.
I see it as a hobby as well. People can take breaks from hobbies; Sometimes they'll do them every day, other times not think about them for a few weeks if they have other things going on. That's about where I stand with the credit game today. I must say that during my rebuild I was much more invested to the point where it was an obsession, but it was a good obsession as I was moving myself from a crappy place to a good place. Once you meet your rebuild goals and sort of plateau, I think it's easier to move from the obsession phase to the hobby phase.
I will say that this tries your patience. I am rebuilding, so I watch my scores like a hawk sometimes even willing them to inch up one more little point. But the good thing is I come on here and read good stories so i know it is possible and I am faithfully gardening and paying stuff off/down so that 91 day mark with NFCU I can ask for a well-deserved CLI. Now whether they agree with my thinking it is well-deserved is another story lol.
