Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

My Platinum and PRG are charge cards with NPSL, are you referring to Delta platinum and gold?

1st 3x CLI from $1k - Advice?

I will have had my Amex BCE for 61 days this Sunday and am eager for a 3x CLI. It was my 2nd card (1st was 6 months old at the time, CapOne QS $750).

Amex approved me for $1k. I have 2 inquiries for each bureau, 100% on time, 1% util (use 30-40% but lower it before statement then PIF), income $18,520 (student). Amex FICO score is 704, CK are about 690, clean thin profile.

Am wondering if I'll have a good shot at getting up to $3k at the 61 day mark, or if I should wait for the 91 day or 181 day mark?

Suggestions?

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

A 1k SL for me on my ED card was a foot in the door and when I tried at day 65, they told me I tried for a CLI too early. I tried again at 180 and it was an instant 3X. You may try anytime you like, but most don't get it at 61 when they started out with such a low SL...

Good luck!!

My friend got BCE with $1,000, I told him to wait more than 60 days. I think he tried at 77 days or so (after paying down the balance and new higher score from Amex), he got 3X.

I think it pays if you wait a little more if you get the card with a low limit.

Possibly, I had a $1000 limit and did the 3x on day 61, just after midnight. I was approved. This was about 3 weeks ago.

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

Now if I get denied at 61 days, does the clock restart and I have to wait 181 days from that moment, or when would be the next time I could ask?

A denial means you'd have to wait 90 days before trying again. It's only 180 if you get approved.

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

I think I'm ready to ask for an increase but at the same time, still nervous. My experian FICO just updated on AmEx website on the 4th at 680, an increase from last month at 658. I just got an auto increase from them from 1k to 3k a couple weeks ago, but now wanna see if I could get this up to about 9k (I'd settle with a generous counter offer too).

The one thing making me nervous is that I've heard sometimes AmEx pulling an older FICO score when doing these CLI requests rather than the most up to date one. If they pull the 658, I'm sure It'll be a flat denial, but at 680, I feel like I have a decent chance here.
