Hey guys, I got my 6 month CLI at 182 days. AMEX's system glitched right as I sent my CLI request through and a window popped up stating: Our systems are updating. Your request for a credit line increase cannot be processed at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again in 24 hours."
I couldn't believe my bad luck. Then I logged out and back in and my main AMEX page listed my new 3x credit line. So I guess it worked.
I posted the the full story in "credit cards."
Anybody ever seen that happen? Weird huh? Maybe I can still ask for another back to back if it didn't count towards my 6 month CLI for some reason haha.
Just got approved yesterday for Amex ED with $2,000 SL. I also have Amex BCP (May 2016) Amex SPG (Oct 2016). I received a 3x CLI on the SPG on Feb 16th 2017. Here is what is throwing me off about time line before I can request a CLI on the new ED Card...I specifically asked the agent via chat the policy on CLI's...has anyone been approved for a 61 day 3x CLI after being approved for CLI on another account less than 181 days prior?
I got an approval for amex bce for my dw yesterday with $15k SL.
how much could be the reasonable 3xCLI i can ask for on 61th day?
PS - everytime on my amex, i ask for more than $30k, it says i need to submit the t4560 form. so i ended up staying in $28k on my bcp card.
So I got my denial letter today. As I suspected, they used my older FICO score of 658 on February 25th rather than the 680 on march 4th. Can I call to appeal this? Why are they using the older score? 658 to 680 is a pretty big jump, I may have been denied even at 680, but I sure as hell liked my chances better with that score. That is the only reason listed for denial in the letter.

I doubt it. They only pull once a month typically and it's when your statement cuts. Like mine shows 2/18 still when I got CLI yesterday on 3/10. My FICO bumped from 772-777 between then but it still used the lower number. That's why you should always check your FICO on AMEX's page before running it. That's what they'll use.

But that's the thing, my FICO score did come straight from AmEx. On march 4th, it updated to 680 (statement closes on the 3rd). But instead of using that score, they used the prior pull on February 25th, which was 22 points lower.
If you feel that paying down those balances will result in a significant score increase, I agree that waiting is the best move. What type of aggregate utilization drop are you looking at? I'm always a fan of people that position themself in the best possible way just prior to going for a CLI, so I think you're making the right decision here.
The way I look at it is it's always best to resist the urge to apply for a card or a limit increase on impulse or as soon as you're able. In this case, what's waiting 1 more month and heightening your approval chances 10 fold. It's better than waiting another 3-6 because you got shot down. For me, if it says 61 days, I'm waiting 65 and paying off my balance before. And that's if all my other ducks are in a row. That's just me though.
You could take the opposing view of just rolling the dice and doing it now figuring you already have to wait a month to get your file straight, so what's 2 more if they shoot you down. It's all perspective. I realize it's easier for me to say with a lucky 777 EX FICO but that's the way I've always done it.
