Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

Coming up to 181 days from my previous CLI.  I am currently at $12,000, and am wondering if I should request a 3x increase to $36k, or something between 12 and 36k.  Also, I will be closing on a home in October, so I don't want to do anything that might have a negative impact on my credit, or otherwise impact my loan/mortgage.  If there is potentially negative impact, I will wait until after I close to request a CLI.  Thoughts?  Thanks.

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

I've read this thread back to Nov 2016 and I did not see this question so I'd like to leave it here and hopefully some one can answer it for me. Heres my history with Amex. I had there Zync card back in 2010. I submitted a payment and it was returned, immediately after it was, Amex closed my account. The next day I submitted my payment and my balance went to $0. So the account was closed with 2 years perfect payment history and $0 balance. I didnt mind because I didnt use it often. Well fast forward to about 4 days ago and I was approved for the Amex PRG, Amex BCE, and just last night AMex Delta.

Well I received my Amex PRG and it says member since 2010. So I'm wondering, will it show that these new cards have been opened since 2010? Or that I've simply been a member since 2010. My Amex BCE also shows online member since 2010. I have not received the other cards as of today. This thread is very imformative and offers a wealth of knowledge. Thanks to you all for contributing.

Sidenote: My scores are higher then listed in my siggy. I just havent updated them within the last few weeks, so I'm not quite sure what my score is that Amex approved me with (if anyone asks).

Score: F8 EQ 609, EX 597, TU 614 (1/17) Current Score: F8 EQ 701, EX 714, TU 689 (12/18)

Goal Score: 700+ across all 3--Gardening until May 2019
USAA Amex-USAA Rate Advantage VS- Amex Gold- Amex Delta Blue- Macys- NYC CC- Victoria's Secret- Cap 1 QS- NFCU CR- Care Credit- Firestone- Sams Club CC- Best Buy Visa- Paypal 2% MC

Total CL $96,300

You're very welcome!

I'll still check every once-in-a-blue-moon (things could always change, right?) but I'm going to definitely manage my expectations.  Smiley Wink

In any case, I'm able and willing to work within the current constraints they are providing, so it's all good.  Smiley Happy

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

Just tossing out some more info for people to read.
Applied for BCE in June. Received a 7-10 message, called them forbthe heck of it. Answered a few questions, then BAM approved for $5000. My highest CC was $1500, amazon/Lowes store cc 6k/5k. 685 Expe score. Mostly all accounts at or below 1 year age

After 60 day mark. Exp score 680, put about 5k through the card in 2 months, paid about 3k. Had a 2300 balance and submitted CLI request online for 3x my limit. Instantly approved for 15,000. I have balances on a handful of cards. Most of them are from promo purchases of furniture at R2G for 0% apr etc.. If anyone wants more info, just ask

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

Quick question for you good folks... I'm interested in transferring $6500 from my Amex ED to my SPG card (leaving $8500 on Amex ED), and then request a 3X CLI on the Amex ED so as to maximize the total increase (for a total CL of $25,000 on Amex ED). Is this frowned upon by Amex? Have others tried this with success? Any light you all could shed would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance Smiley Happy

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

I have a DP of multiple unsolicited CLIs in under 180 days and a limit reallocation to a < 60-day-old account:

Late April: Received unsolicited CLI on my BCP

Late June: Opened BB+

Late July or early August: Requested credit limit transfer from personal SPG to BB+ (forgetting that BB+ hadn't been open 60 days yet), received 7-10 days message

Early August: Received letter that "transfer" was approved, but they didn't actually reduce my SPG limit

And your limit on the BB+ increased regardless with the reallocation?
