Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide Discussion Thread

Yes, my history goes back a few years with Amex. My Blue Business is currently at $18k & Cash Magnet is at $12k. For instance I had a 2 year old BCE (closed now) back in March which was my last cli attempt. Asked for 3x on it and only went from $2k to $4k. But only used it for Netflix and other smaller purchases so it only yielded a small increase I assume. Both my Cash Magnet & Blue Business limits where are where they stand because of some reallocations. Blue Business $12k SL & Cash Magnet $4k SL.

I like your observation of going for the 3XCLI on the Card with the smaller limit to maximize the cli, so I think I will go with that card even though I have (lesser) history established. It certainly didn’t matter with my BCE which had the longer credit history but yielded my lowest cli to date with Amex.

Sounds like a plan.  There's a chance that they'd let you take the $12k card to $35k and if not $30k, both without IV.  That would give you the biggest bang for the buck in terms of dollars and if you wanted to you could split the gain between the two cards.  I think going that route would yield the most favorable end result.

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide Discussion Thread

I went for a cli for my $500 Amex BCE card on Aug 17 but got denied, I opened up an Amex Everday with $6000 SL near the beginning of August. Do I have to wait 3 months now to request 3x CLI for the Everday card?

Okay thanks, good to know! I was blindly requesting CLIs not having all this knowledge, wish I would have read on this sooner

What was the reasoning for Aug 17th denial? How often did you request CLI on the BCE? If the denial is based on pulling the trigger too early it does not reset the clock, you would have to go back to the denial that is based on your profile then count 91 days from that date. If this is the case, call Amex and ask CSR the exact date you would be eligible.

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide Discussion Thread

I think only reasoning was not enough experience at CL or history with account lol which didnt make sense to me as Ive used it very responsibly for all the time I've had it. I actually received the email when I opened the account back in DEC 2017 telling me how to obtain an Auto CLI. It's been about 9 months now and no increase. Even got approved for Amex Everday $6000 and Cash Magnet $1600 a month ago. I was on the phone with a rep earlier and he thinks something is not right and escalated my situation for further review. He says the only plausible reason he believes is that maybe me changing the due date early on may have messed with their "credit steps". I will know for sure in 2-6 weeks. But I am eligible 3 months from Aug 17 for a requested CLI.

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide Discussion Thread

My next CLI is coming up and I'm curious.  I want to maximize what I go for.  My income is around $38000.  I currently have a BCE with $15000 and already a CLI on it, which is why I'm waiting.  I also have a Hilton with $5000 and a Delta Gold with $2000.  Given my income, I'm not sure that they would take my BCE to $35000 or even $30000.  So, here's my question.  Should I attempt to make that one higher or should I try the 3X on the Hilton to make it $15000?  My goal is to get the maximum CLI so that I can move a nice portion over to my Delta Gold.  Thoughts before I request?  As always, THANK YOU!!

BCE AMEX ($16200) - Citi DC ($11600) - Chase Sapphire Preferred ($10200) - Nordstrom Visa Signature ($10000) - Best Buy Citi Visa ($9950) - Chase Freedom Flex ($7700) - NHL Discover IT ($7000) - Apple Card ($6000) - Delta Gold AMEX ($6000) - Hilton Honors AMEX ($5000) - Barclay View ($5000)

Closed - Capital One Secured ($500) - It is not in my wallet. :-) - Sony/Sync ($2400)

Goal - To get in with Chase. Smiley Very Happy (ACHIEVED!)

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide Discussion Thread

I want to be sure to maximize my chances of a 3x CLI on my Amex Everyday card $6k--->$18k. Any tips? or is it guaranteed just as long as I just use it every month and pay on time?
