I called the automated line today and got a message I was approved and will get card in 7-10 days. Is it possible to expedite card? I do not know credit line. I have not received an email yet and it does not show up on my online account. Last night it was still giving me the 30 day message. Is there any harm to calling in? Can the application line give a false approval?

I don't believe you can expedite it.  Unless you were directly speaking to UW or verifications which at that point they *may* provide the option.  I believe this is more so to link your Marriott or Ritz loyalty ID/account with the card.  I didn't expedite and should have mine hopefully this week which isn't that bad of a wait.

I think if you call 1-800-436-7927, then #, 3, 1, it should give you the CL, APR and high level details.  Try that red.

Thanks I called back again and listened to whole message. They gave me a 5k line likely because I have so much credit with chase already. Better than having to call in and recon and move credit around. I have heard they have become more difficult with reallocating limits.

Congratulations red!  See, now you don't need to be stressed and call before the end of the month.  $5K is better than $0 and you avoided recon altogether!  Excellent!

Re: The waiting for the Chase marriott thread

I was quite lucky then of my both Instant approvals from Chase for both Marriott and Disney when I apped a few days ago. Already have 3 Chase cards now with CSP, Marriott and Disney. Goodluck to all who are still waiting Smiley Happy

Re: The waiting for the Chase marriott thread

I apped for the IHG 80k offer on the phone today hoping/expecting IA... well I was given the 30-day jargon instead Smiley Sad

I used to call recon with Chase and would get approved immediately after verification (something always triggers them to verify my more recent apps), now it seems like I should just wait it out? When/Why did Chase get so difficult/cocky?!? I don't know if I have 30 days of patience

Current Scores: TU 760, EX 718, EQ 726

Well, it's your choice if patience is not your best suit.  I would wait it out and I'm sure others will likely chime in.  It has nothing to do with Chase getting "cocky".  Plus, not all applications take an entire 30 days (mine did but that's not the norm).

I don't see that it's "cocky" behavior from Chase. It's pretty simple: they've tightened their approval criteria fairly considerably. Instant approvals seem to be pretty rare, at least here on the MF community. It seems anyone with more than a small amount of inquiries/new accounts/whatever goes into manual review which can take 30 days but often less. Most people advise just waiting. If you are impatient, you can call, but be prepared to answer questions. If you feel you can back up your credit report on recon then go for it, but no harm in waiting.

I don't think they are cocky, they just seem to be going for a certain demographic: people with few new accounts who are going to be pretty loyal to Chase and use their card for more than just a bonus or whatever. We don't have to like it, but Chase wants to make money, not just provide rewards and make no profit.

Re: The waiting for the Chase marriott thread

Logged into my chase account today (after one day) and was approved for a 33k CL. Smiley Happy

Part of me wants to decrease that CL and immediately app for another card. This was going to be one of two (Amex PRG) cards in this app spree, but with a TL like that, I feel like Chase is liking me...

Nice credit line. Did you lower the limits on your other chase cards? I got a 5k limit, but I think its because they wanted to give me the card although I had soo much outstanding credit already so they gave me the min line which is fine. I have four chase personal cards and two business chase cartds, so I'm done with chase apps for quite some time. If I got a 33k line I would disperse it across my different chase cards if I could. Right now I have 21.7k on my hyatt card and I'm considering trying to shift some of that over to my freedom card. If I was in your situation and wanted to go for other chase cards then I would consider decreasing the limit first because recon is apparently getting harder with chase when it comes to moving credit lines over to open new accounts.
