Hello everyone!

I am thinking about adding a third Amex to my wallet. Right now I have the Platinum and BCP, I love the cards and use them for **bleep** near 100% of my spending. I want to pick up the Gold card to take advantage of more of the everday multipliers on gas, groceries, and restaruants.

When I filled out the pre-qualification form it didn't come back with anything, however when I log into my account and click the "apply now" button for the gold card it says "Congratulations, you're pre-approved".

When I applied for the BCP (second card) they didn't do a hard pull, do I have any reason to think there might be one this time?

Thanks in advance!

IMO, it is more than likely to be approved as SP, but always keep in mind there's always a possibility of a HP. Over the years, I've had multiple AmEx CCs and there have been a few instances where a HP has sneaked in, but I expected it.

Great Info thank you!

If you don't mind me asking, what caused you to expect the HP?

In my case, it was either due to the application or offer source, in some cases applying incognito if an offer was targeted or yielded a higher SUB vs being logged in. But, then there were other instances where it just happened. But, I was perfectly ok with it because at the end of the day, it's only an inquiry...not like sending a probe across interstellar space Smiley Wink

So, Amex played rough with 7th, 9th, and 15th card?

How rude

You're preapproved.

And yes it will probably be a soft pull.

Amex member vs public site

Is there any particular reason that when I log in to Amex, and click "apply" for the gold card it says I'm -pre-approved, but when I fill out the pre-qualify form on their website from a seperate browser window it says "unfortunately we can't pre-qualify you for any cards at this time"?

You have already 2 AMEX AND with your score, they're not approving??! That puts a significant dampener on my Delta Gold application attempt..

They are approving (from what I can tell), on the site when logged in to my account. When I check for offers and click apply for the gold card, the next screen says Im pre-approved. The lack of pre-qualification is when I fill out the form on the website while not logged in as a member.

When you fill out the pre-qualification tool on the amex site do you have any offers come up? If so that is usually pretty accurate, even if the exact card you want is not on there, if there are other comprable cards on there you probably stand a good chance of approval.
