Three new AMEX cards in one year?

I did 3 new ones in 3 months. Two revolvers and a Charge. bringing my total to 6 cards. BUT I've also been a member since the 1980's and a Platinum member since 1992.

If they like you and your spend they like you. 

I had the gold (1,700 POT) and BCP (10k)  and had run $200k of spend through them by October. I then added the Plat (11k POT) in October. In December I added: Bonvoy (35k), Aspire (14k), Bus Plat (50k POT). I looked and saw I still was being preapproved despite having opened 3 cards (2 revolvers) and applied for and was approved for the Everyday Preferred but with only a 2k limit. I ended up moving limit from the bonvoy to balance. December I also was given a CLI increase on the BCP to 24k and my POT on the gold jumped to a still low 6,600. So I dont know what is going on with Amex, but they hit the end of the year and just started flinging approvals and limits like candy. I just looked and I am still being preapproved for charge cards, but not revolvers.
