If I were you I would take Discover up on their secured card offer - not everyone gets offered the secured version. I have it and I love it, and right now with their double cashback deal it makes for a really great card. I believe you only have a few days to accept their offer.

Edit: Ha ha, I didn't read through the whole thread before I posted.. lol. I'm glad you decided to go for the secured Discover card!

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the forums, I have been reading the forums for a couple of weeks and have applied for 7 cc and received 3 of them. I really want to apply for an overstock cc but concerned that I may have to many already. I have read that people do a "cc spree" and I just want to know how many applications do you guys consider to many. My scores are still kind of low and I am wondering should I at least try to apply for overstock or wait a bit?

When you do decide to apply for the Overstock card, it is a soft pull on your credit report even though they ask for your entire SSN.

Re: Too Many Inquieries

Wow thats good to know about Overstock about the sp, I'm still going to wait it out a bit, but I look forward to having Overstock as a favorite.  The Discover card rep said normally they give you 4-5 days but in actuality they can pull up the information and complete it within 30 days. I had told her I would think about it, I know im past the time. I will try it and if it works great if not I will try again at a later time.  I am learning so much from you guys, I am determined to do better with my financial life after making young, stupid decisions with money and ending a very toxic marriage. I am so thankful I feel like this is my 2nd chance to do it right.  Smiley Very Happy

Even if you had 7 inquiries on your profile, that's not a problem with Overstock.

To avoid another inquiry, you may try the Shopping Cart Trick for the Overstock card, your score may be a bit low for that to work though.

With your credit score, I'm surprised you got 3 cards out of 7.  Be wary of racking up too many inquiries on cards you probably can't get.  Improve your credit some before spending off more inquiries as inquiries will stay with you for 2 years.

You should stop.

'Sprees' hurt you, and for a long time. So chill.

If you could get the Secured Discover that would be great.  They allow you to make deposits up to $2500 which is refunded when the card is unsecured  This I understand will  affect the starting credit limit when unsecured.  I love getting the cash back; don't get that with my Cap 1 secured.  Plus I like the fact that I won't have 3 HPs like Cap 1 to move to an unsecured version which adds up quickly when your trying to rebuild.  Oh, by the way, welcome to the forum.  You will learn a lot and get a lot of wonderful advice.  Wish I had known about it years ago; probably would have prevented me from making a lot of foolish mistakes.

Yeah, that's not a bad haul at all, particularly getting in with Cap One. They've been awfully generous of late. Are those two cards with them in the credit steps program? If so, be sure to remember that after you guaranteed CLI, you can request an additional one as well (may or may not be granted, but you can ask). Down the line - I'd suggest a year, but YMMV - you could potentially PC that platinum into a QS as well. Lots of options, but the most important thing is that you avoided trap cards like Premier, Credit One, etc.

Good luck to you!

Isn't necessarily after. I hit luv button after 4-5 statements got cli then steps increase posted.

Use that cap1 like a debit card and pay pay pay
