Too Many Inquiries?

Good Day,

I am in the process of rebuidling my credit and doing ok, if I say so my self.  In February 2016, i applied for a Capital one Card and was approved for $300.  Between February and now, my scores have increased and I was approved for a $5500 Discover and a $2000 American Express in April 2016.  I contacted cap One to see if they could review my reports and determine if my CL could be in crease but was informed that I am in a steps program and my account would be reviewed afgter 5 payments.  The rep suggested applying for a new card and combining these 2 cards after 6 months.  Sooooo i applied and got the 7-10 wait for a letter response.  I am assuming i was denied for the venture card since I didnt get an instant approval.  My concern however, is the number of recent inquiries.  I was informed that American Express will close an account if they see multiple inquiries. Is this so?  I do not plan to apply for anything additional.  But wondering if I just runied how hard i have been working to get Credit extended.  Any info provided is greatly appreciated.  Thank you

Not likely unless it's an excessive amount of inquiries. Amex (and other lenders) worries more about rapidly increasing balances (utilization spikes).

To add to the post above, I don't see that happening. But, I'd defi.itely be careful about how you mange your balances in the next months just to be sure, and not give them or anyone more of a reason to see you as a higher risk.
