Too much available credit?

So i'm apping for a couple of cards in a few days here(the first). Hopefully a prequal for venture shows up that day(lots of inq dropping in 4 days).

While looking over my reports i saw i got everything down to ....1%......

it reports 333/25.5k, Despite this, i went ahead and did my AMEX cli becaue i thought it might be time, and it was, just got bumped from 1.5->4.5, which is great. Except now when the eventually reports next month im gonna have 28.5k, my usage will also be higher. so i won't be down to 1% usage, but it'll still be awfully low.

Should i be trimming cards here? My Income fluctuates between 45-53k. I don't want to get denied for something in the future because of too much available credit.

Contenders for trimmage are Sears store card-500 and merrick bank 1000.

Discover-12500

CSP-5000

BCP- 4500

Cap 1 QS- 4000

Credit union-1000

I'd like to get a venture, maybe a southwest, and maaaybbee a thank you premier. I wish i'd heeded other's advice about getting a freedom when i got my csp, but i didnt realize just how great the combo would have been Smiley Sad

What should my overall credit line/available credit be to avoid being rejected?

Re: Too much available credit?

You're nowhere near the point where you need to worry about it.

Re: Too much available credit?

Oh. Well then. Thanks. Guess that problems solved then.

Why oh why would lenders keep handing out money lol just doesn't make sense, but i'll take it. no matter how high the score is, seem's like a bad risk.

thanks though, you quelled my concerns.

Re: Too much available credit?

your CL is half your yearly income... i wouldn't worry a bit. many of us have 2-3x our income so don't worry, buddy

Re: Too much available credit?

2x of income isn't bad on 15 cards. In 2008 so many of us made 25k and had at least 4 cards with 25k limits each lol. That is what could be iffy these days.

Yeah ditch the Merrick and Sears cards, you don't need them any more.

Don't worry about your available credit, no you don't have too much. Wait until your scores are all over 700 before applying for Venture.
