Guys,
some DP, I applied and got approved for NFCU MR Amex and Chase Amazon Prime on same day. I also had no prequal on Amex site and denied Chase Freedom on that same day. Chase "too many applications for credit." My plan is to wait 3 months and app for Amex and CF.
I was thinking of checking Amex prequal on the day I plan to app. If offers available, I want to app for CF at a branch. Should I app for Amex first or Chase? Does it matter what order? I'm under 5/24 and have 3 Inq for each CRA. Thank you in advance.
Chase first so they don't see the amex inquiry. If you're approved for an amex, it won't show up on your reports for 2 months so you probably don't have to worry about chase, unless they're SPing you constantly.
Good looking scores! .. App Chase 1st.
Thank you. Yes that make sense. I’ll app chase first.
Which of the Amex cards have the best approval odds?
It doesnt make sense to me
You got denied for seeking credit, so you're going to seek more credit from the same lender in mere three months?
You should give it a lot more time before applying for another Chase card. Three months wont be enough with your profile (that's just my opinion of course).
Additionally, I think you're making a mistake with Amex because you're asking which card you'd get approved for when you should be asking "Which one of these cards would be useful to me?"
There is a big difference between NFCU approvals and the rest of the credit world. Give your new accounts a chance to age, wait till your scores improve, make a plan on what financially makes sense for you, then decide what you want to do.
Thanks for your input. The reason I ask about which is easiest is merely to get my foot in the door. The card that makes sense to me is the BCP.
As for Chase, how long would you recommend to wait for next app?
With a 656 EX you're likely not getting approved for anything with Amex and if you do, it will likely be a $1k limit.

That's really a wrong way to look at at.
If you apply for a useless card to "get your foot in the door", you have to spend money on a card you have no use for, and rewards you cannot use.
As an example, people will frequently apply for Delta Gold, even if they dont fly because its "easy".
No lender wants to issue a card that wont see any use, but why use the card if you cannot enjoy the rewards?
For their core cards, your EX score might work, or it may not
You know what you're spending money on (travel, groceries etc), so if you break down what you're looking for, you can get help in picking what would work for you.
Chase, I'd wait at least 6 months. A year is better, but no one makes it to a year, so 6 months is more realistic.
At that time, if there are branches near you, see if you have in branch pre-approval.
If you're over 5/24 without in branch pre-approval, wait for green checkmark.
Also, while they dont require a pound of flesh, they do like to see their cards used (who doesn't lol), so take advantage of your Amazon card when it makes sense.
Chase is not a boogeybank, but you have to move at their pace.
Thank you so much, that makes a ton of sense. I will wait it out. I'm hopeful for another FICO bump in the next month. I'm definitely putting a lot of use on the Amazon card and I've rolled over an old 401k into a new Chase YouInvest account. Thank you so much for taking the time to give some very useful information.
You're welcome.
It will happen, just that pesky patience thing (I dont have it, either)
Good luck!
