I didn't think the Cash+ was an online app, but I noticed it on the website the other day. This is the card that I really really want. I opened an Elan/Comerica to get in the door with them hoping that would increase my chances if it ever was an online app. I had to go through the whole income verication process to get it. Yeah, I had heard that they were strict!
So I apped and got the 7-10 message. I called the next day and was told it was rejected due to recent inquiries. However the rep said it didn't seem like there were that many and he would submit it for manual processing.
So my first question is about the automated phone status system. Does it update when it is rejected and recon? It said being checked for verification when I first called and then denied. It still says denied now, but I did not check after I spoke with the rep to find out if there were any changes. On recon does it update to something different or does it just simply stay at rejected while they recon it?
My second question is about recon with US Bank. How often do they approve on recon? It seems like some banks are rather pushovers when you recon. Is US Bank the same or are they pretty strict?
My third question is about getting a different card upon recon. On the online app it says that if I am denied I will be considered for another product. I really don't want another product, but I guess if I can upgrade later I would take it. Do they often give you a different card on recon, if they do approve upon recon?
I promise I will not app for another card if I get this one. Actually, I think if I get this card I don't have any other cards I would even consider, except may the Citi DC card. (As an everyday card it would be only slightly better than others, but I also think I could PC my Dividends card later too.)

I think the general answer to you question is, you should wait to see what US Bank sends you.
1) If it's a complete denial, well, not much can be done. It was already pushed to manual review. US Bank is rather strict in that regard.
2) If it's a Cash Rewards card, you want to activate that card and treat it like the friend it is to your US Bank relationship. 1% isn't terrible, and using this card will get you the history you want to build to either PC to a Cash+ later, or app for a Cash+ later.
3) if they send you a Cash+ card, Congratulations!
I started with a CashRewards from 2009 (actually I think it was some old form of a Perks card, but still 1%) and I used it for literally everything, because all my other cards were loaded down with BT offers and limited credit remaining. They called me in 2013 to give me the Cash+.
Just in the last week I PC'd the Cash Rewards to a second Cash+ card.
OK, thanks, I will just keep hoping for the best.
Now the application is back to pending...
Any update OP, call the underwriting and see if they have made decision.
