US Bank Altitude Reserve approval odds

Hi all, I am trying to get a premium travel card and wanted to check approval odds for USBAR. C1 VX didn't provide pre-approval quoting "too many revolving accounts". My credit profile:

  • Experian score: 781

  • AAoA: 2y

  • Oldest account: 2y 2 m

  • Enquires: 0/6, 0/12, 4/24

  • 1% Utilization

  • Income $200k+

  • Current cards:

    • Amex Blue Cash (35k)

    • Citi Costco (8.5k)

    • Chase Prime (8k)

    • Discover It (3k)

    • First Tech CU Choice Reward (20k)

    • First Tech CU Platinum Card (6.5k)

    • Fidelity Card (1k)

    • Amex Gold - Authorized User

  • I also have an active vehicle loan and a line of credit in my account

US Bank dont offer banking services for my zip code (NJ). Is it risky applying for USBAR with the current profile and considering CapOne didn't provide pre-approval for Venture X?

Will it be better to give a try after closing few unused/rarely used accounts (Fidelity Card, Discover It, 1k Line of Credit etc) to reduce the number of revolving accounts?

Rather than simply the total number of  revolvers, it might be "too many, too soon" with a young profile.  The pattern of opening 8 new credit card accounts within the past 26 months might look risky.  Regardless of the actual reason for the lack of a pre-approval from C1, US Bank is considered to be a very conservative lender.  While it's possible that you might get an approval without any previous relationship with USB, I wouldn't be surprised if the starting credit limit was lower than you might expect.

Re: US Bank Altitude Reserve approval odds

Thank you. I am not too worried about the credit limit assuming $5k is the minum limit to be offered. Do you think opening a CD will help since they dont offer banking services for my zip code ?

Isn't a CD considered to be a banking service?  And, $5k might not be the minimum SL.  Do some forum searches for the past few years and you will see posts from people who received SLs of between $500 and $2k from US Bank.

open the CD (1 month $500) and then open the personal checking for the $450 bonus and when you have a nice big thing of money in there for the bonus, pull the trigger on the USBAR

Re: US Bank Altitude Reserve approval odds

I'd apply. You should be good at least for the AR min $5k.

Chase Amazon Prime $29000, Citi Costco $32000, US Bank Altitude Connect $40000, US Bank Smartly $35000
