Re: Today marks my 181 days with US Bank

I have a friend who works in UW at US Bank and I've also had a credit card with them for over 15 years now. They aren't a bank where there are tricks and tips into getting regular SP CLIs. If that is what you're after, I'd stick with companies like Discover and NFCU.

I should freeze my CRs before I request one.

That's not how pulls work for companies you already do business with. They can HP you even if your reports are locked.

This isn't true.

Sorry you didn't score a CLI @FettHutt -- next time for sure.

A freeze only prevents new credit inquiries. It does not prevent creditors that you have an established relationship with to pull a hard inquiry.

Yes it does, or at least it's supposed to. It doesn't prevent new accounts being made, if the creditor wants to make one without a hard inquiry, but it should prevent hard inquiries.

I've had this first hand when Cap1 rejected an app because they couldn't pull Transunion because TU glitched and didn't unfreeze as expected.

Re: US Bank Cash+ fantasy?

Update part 2: just got the snail mail and it said to unfreeze my reports for a CLI. Not wasting an HP for a CLI. I would rather app for a card where I will get a 20k SL with my file. Really don't need more credit. Getting credit with a SP is hard to turn down.

Yes it does. It blocks SPs as well unless they are coded as AR inquiries. If they're coded for new credit, they're blocked.

Actually, it prevents HPs from existing creditors

They can perform SPs every minute, but not HPs.

That's just how it is.

And even though an existing creditor only wants to SP, they still want your reports unfrozen to consider a CLI.

Re: US Bank Cash+ fantasy?

Not necessarily, they may want to hard pull to give you a CLI. The purpose of a hard pull is to give notice to other creditors that you were seeking credit.

Whether it’s an SP or an HP depends on the profile.
