Re: US Bank Cash + from Florida

Hey Remedios i talked with US Bank today. They told me i could get the AR is i apply in-branch with my foreign passport no ITIN/SSN. The agent in retail banking put me on hold for about 5 minutes because she needed to check the information. I also asked about the "You've earned it program" of the free checking Gold account and i was told that the cutoff was 740 Vantage TU. That i could apply to the checking account and the card at the same time or i could open the credit card without the account. ?

I can call in again in a few days to confirm.

Re: US Bank Cash + from Florida

You cannot apply on a same day.

There has to be at least 5 days from when checking account is approved to AR application

Again, you cannot apply for AR without having another US Bank product

Re: US Bank Cash + from Florida

Well then the agents must be on drugs, i talked with 2 different ones and one told me the card could be opened without the account. And the other when i asked a different question told me that for sure i could apply to the checking and card at the same time. I will check all of this information later with more agents but so far i am not currently in the US so it's of little use to me think about a possible application 6 months further than the road. Plus.. in the event i want to further pursue this... both of them told me i would have to apply in-branch. And in branch means North Carolina from Florida! I don't think i'm going to do that, not sure. It depends how much time i have the next time, or i don't know where. Hehe i would have to take a plane to go and visit a branch lol.

I dont know who you talked to or why they said what they said. If you are interested in the card, do some research on it, the page for AR is a good start, and it clearly states what I told you above.

You apply whenever you think you should.

@eastsea US Bank relies less on credit card lending than some others like Chase.

When people talk about "relationship", they usually think that putting a certain amount in checking/savings is a relationship. It's not.

Bottom  line is, those same people would have been approved without the account, just like many with accounts get denied. Most of US Bank denials are for credit seeking reason.

Because your oldest open account is quite young, I'd wait a bit longer, because they will deny for 2 new accounts in a year. Your cards will age, and your approval will be on a lot better terns.

I think you should garden a bit longer, then apply, till at least one card is a year old.

I've been extremely pleased with them, and cash+ is definitely worth spending some time in the garden.

^^^^^^

Let me just say I _hated_ hearing this advice last year from Rem, but it was good advice.  I'm in a much better position to app for USB (or any) card now, or any other needed credit product.  Time in the garden helps.
