US Bank SL Recon - HP?

Hi- long-time lurker, first-time poster here.

I just received my US Bank Cash+ Visa Signature card yesterday. Was bracing myself for the notorious $500 SL; opened up the envelope to a slightly better $1000 SL. After reading so many threads here about successful USB SL recons, I called underwriting today planning to ask for $5k, but the CSR informed me it would be a HP even though they just pulled my info last week. She said it was a new rule that any CLI/SLI requires a HP. Is this true? Dozens of posts here say people have successfully reconned their $500 SL, so I was really hoping $5k would be doable since they started me at $1k, but it's not worth another HP to me.

The number I called was 800-947-1444, "Underwriting Services". Is this a HUCA situation? Is there another number I should try? Or just suck it up with $1k? ($1k is fine and usable for me, I was just hoping for a little more room to keep utilization low.)

Many thanks- this forum has been very helpful! Smiley Happy

Re: US Bank SL Recon - HP?

You could always try calling back and trying with a different rep. I called to recon my SL and did not get an HP. Sadly, I also did not get an increase. Smiley Sad

DP:

SL was 1250

They pulled TU only (706)

One collection $849 (DOFD 2014)

several 90 day and 60 day lates between 2014 and 2015.

30 day lates as recently as 2017 but not since 22 months ago

Hopefully the new rule is not accurate.  I would do HUCA because that is all you have left to try before another HP.

Re: US Bank SL Recon - HP?

I just received my card 2 weeks ago, same exact one. After receiving it i noticed the 500 sl, I called and talked to customer service, she said they always do a hard pull. I asked her to send it to underwriting and note it that I didnt want to do a hp as they just pulled my report a week earlier. She did, and I decided to call underwriting, spoke with them and explained I didnt know starting limit till I received the card, and was disappointed in the low limit that I thought it would be more. He noted the account that I didnt want to do a hp and said it should be reviewed within couple days, later that afternoon I looked at account and they increased limit to 1k which was better obvi but asked for 2k. Received a letter few days later stating no account history with them etc... and to use the card for a few months to be considered for auto cli.

Re: US Bank SL Recon - HP?

Thanks all for the replies and DPs!

Just called UW again, no luck. The second CSR told me the same thing, that a recent policy change requires a HP for any sort of CLI, even though they just pulled my info last week. He said after six months of use they'll manually review and consider giving a CLI at that time, or that I can call the number on the back of my card anytime to request one, though that will incur a HP. Maybe I could have pushed a little harder (the CSR didn't even pull up my file this time), but I truthfully won't be putting >$1k of spend on this card, so I'll just let it be for now and be happy that I at least got more than $500 to work with.

If anyone successfully recons their USB SL without a HP, it'd be great to know if this "new rule" is truly in place or if I just had bad luck with CSRs. Would rather just start using the card than HUCA so I'll make peace with my $1k SL.

Some DP: No history with USB before applying, but TU score around 750, no baddies, only 1 inq in 2018 and 1 inq in 2017. Still happy with my approval.
