Passed the 6 mo. mark since my last CLI on my Cash Rewards Visa in which I went from $13K to $19K. Called in tonight--DENIED. CSR says I'll have to wait for the letter. EQ. was 694--no derogs--4% UTL. GUESSING the denial will be either new acct. or INQS. in the last year--6 new accts. and 6 new INQ's. Other than that I'm baffled! I also currently have a pre-selected offer from them for their Preferred Cash Reward Visa Sig---which at this point I probably better pass on that one.....?

Sorry to hear.. Hang in there.
Heh. USAA has always been a strange creature to me, I would definitely hold off on getting any new card until the Limitless comes out.. I hope it will be soon.
Strange is the word indeed. This denial kind threw me for a loop consdering they gave me a $6K increase back in June and my report is still clean--and the card is over 3 years old! All of my other HP and SP CLI's I've put in for recently (B of A--FIA--Citi--Comentiy--and others) have yielded substancial positive results EXCEPT USAA. They've been so hit or miss for me with the CLI's (more misses than hits) I think I'm going to wait another 1-1/2 years before burning another HP with them--and also going to pass on the pre-selected offer b/c after all--if they won't approve an increase--why would they approve a new card.....?

CH, I feel you, when I applied for my USAA cards I applied for the Rate advantage and got a terrible APR, so I was frustrated and wanted take advantage of the same HP and rolled the dice and applied for a different card the same day, they approved both of them for $5,000 a piece... that is why they are so strange to me it would make much more sense to just have given the approval for $10k on one card or at least given me a good APR, now I will never use the "Rate Advantage" card because ironically it is higher than nearly every other card in my line up including my Cash rewards from NFCU, also ironically they offered me a 0% BT promo on the Amex which was the 2nd card I went for, so I am still quite salty about my choice to app for the "Rate advantage" especially now that they do not do product changes... This applies to you because you may actually be able to get the limitless card when it comes out even though the didn't grant the CLI now.
@tydawg: Just read about the USAA limitless. Even if it becomes available in my state I might not go for it b/c it requires a USAA checking acct. with a minimum qualifying $1000 direct deposit every month to get the 2.5% cash rebate. That seems like too many strings attached and too much work--LOL. But thanks for the tip.

ACH transfers also qualify. Doesn't have to be a Direct deposit. I got say USAA's transfers to other banks and CU's is the fastest I've experienced. Did a transfer to one of my CU's last night after 7 pm. Money shows in CU today at 4 pm..AMAZING!!
Too much work for 2.5% CB!? Whaaaat? But for me at least it is not much work, I usually spend more than $1,000 a month on credit anyway so I will just ACH my payment into the USAA checking account prior to applying it to the Credit card, then everyone wins and it requires very little work on my part.

Tydawg, this is a very smart method for qualifying for the cash rebate without switching up your direct deposit.
OP, sorry for your HP CLI denial. Whenever USAA denies me for additional credit, their reason is usually something along the lines of "Maximum amount of credit extended at this time." But I agree, they can be weird. They recently approved me for the Rate Advantage / $500 CL / 11% APR. Less than 24 hours later, they approved me for the Military Affiliate AMEX / $15,000 CL / 15% APR. Both instant approvals online. I could understand the disparity between these approval amounts if the Rate Advantage was at the lowest available APR, but it wasn't.
