Cheers to everyone in this forum. I wanted to start out saying I appreicate everyones comments and constructive criticism.
I was on the USAA choose your credit card tool and I inputted my credit score which is fluctuating around 609-615 on myFico app and it gave me the American Express cash back card. I find it hard to believe that I would be approved for such a card with my score. I have read a lot of reviews for minimum scores for approval and i usually see high 600's - 700. My questions is has anyone ever used that app, and or is it accurate at all?
Sorry for the long question. I appreciate any informative help.
May I ask which USAA AMEX you mean? The Cashback Rewards Plus is a great card that has 5% back on gas (I have this one and love it). There is also the Rewards American Express that has the 2x gas/groceries/1 everything else (I don't have any experience with this one). I was denied the Cashback Rewards Plus when my scores were similar to yours but was offered the basic Platinum Visa instead. I think accepting that Visa, using is well for 6 months and demonstrating good credit habits opened the door for the Amex when my scores were only 50 points higher. Best of luck whichever way you go.

I was told to choose this after I used the tool. Cash back rewards plus American Express. I would opt for the secured card but I already have a secured card with Discover.
Interesting. In my case, when I was denied for what I asked for I was offered an alternative which is better than just "no". Of course, they will do something completely different just because I said that. If you choose to apply and aren't quite there yet, maybe they will counter with another offer. Good luck!
