Unable to Submit AMEX CLI

Hey all,

Tried to submit a CLI with AMEX today on my Delta Skymiles card and the representaive told me it couldn't be processed because I'd recenlty opened an account. I'm assuming they're reffering to the Green and Platinum cards. Has anyone else gotten this response before and if so do you know how long have you to wait to request the limit increase? I was hoping to request now that the account is >60 days old but perhaps I can request at the 90 day mark next month. I'm hoping the "new account recently opened" won't affect that. Trying to go for the 3x CLI

Thanks!

Current Credit Cards: AMEX Platinum (NPSL) AMEX Green Card (NPSL) AMEX Gold Card (NPSL) American Express Blue Cash Preferred (14.7K) American Express Delta Platinum ($5.1K), Discover Chrome IT ($3.5K), Apple Card ($3.5K),

You've gotten 3 New AmEx cards in just over 2 months. They're slowing you down exposure wise on their end until you build a positive history of usage and PIF. Personally I'd garden esp with AmEx and wait until the card was 6 months old and had some history to ask for a CLI on it. Plus you're probably likely by then to get a better CLI as well at that point.

You're moving too fast for someone who is new to Amex. Let your relationship grow for 6 to 12 months and then shoot for the stars.

Re: Unable to Submit AMEX CLI

I've had that happen. It may not be until 90+ days as you mentioned. May not be until 6 months.

Re: Unable to Submit AMEX CLI

Same thing here - no CLI for me yet at the 61 day mark. Give it a few months and with a positive payment history with them we should be good to go. Patience is key to get in on good terms but once we are there, I believe we too will post about our CLI's with Amex.

Yes- did you ask when one would be available? When did you get the other cards?

Asking a CSR when you're eligible for a CLI will usually yield a boilerplate response of "6 months," but in many cases, an account will actually be eligible sooner.
