I am about to apply to Unify and had a few questions.

1.  When applying for credit based items: PLOC and CC Do you request the maximum amount and let them counter or do you ask for something reasonable?

Based on my interactions thus far to date with Unify and for their cards, they will assign you certain APR ranges based on the starting limit you get if you are approved for their cards.  There are also differences between approvals for the fixed and variable-rate cards.

For the fixed-rate card, for example, IIRC, receiving starting limits below $5k means you will automatically get their Classic card, which also has the higher APRs, as low as up to 13.5% F or so I believe.  Also for the fixed-APR card, a SL between $5,000 - $14,999 will automatically qualify you for their Gold card, which has APRs of between 9.99% - 12.5% F, depending on your individual credit and income.  A SL of $15,000 or higher will get you their Platinum card, and the lowest-available, fixed-rate APR of 8.99% F.  And to get the Platinum card at 8.99% F, you need an EX FICO 2 Score (not the Auto version) of between 740-750 or higher.

For the variable-rate card, the approval criteria is less stringent. Meaning, as long as your FICO Score 2 is 740-750 or higher, they will give you the lowest-available current APR of 5.74% V with any SL you are provided with.  So to answer the question of whether to request a maximum-amount SL or something a little more moderate, my own personal experience with them has been that I started with somewhat-lower SL thresholds and then worked my way up gradually, but at the time, I wasn't able to qualify for the lowest rates and highest SLs -- if you have the 740-750+ FICO scores needed to get the best terms, and you want the fixed card, you may want to ask for $15,000 up-front (otherwise you can build up to higher tiers as I did as my credit scores improved).  For the variable rate card, since they will give you the lowest APR with any SL, you are able to go lower for your SL and still get the best APR terms.

2.  If you apply for multiple credit products in 1 day do they use one pull like PenFed?

Yes as far as I am aware, they can use a single HP for multiple credit products, as long as they are both being requested very close together time-wise.  For instance, they did one HP for me for both the first  card I apped for from them, as well as for joining the CU.

3.  In your experience is the Variable Rate harder to obtain then the fix rated credit card? Or is in the opposite?

Easier to get the variable-rate card (please see above for more info).  Again to get the best APR, you will need to have Score 2 FICOs of 740-750 or higher.

4. From my research they SP EXP for Memebership and HP EXP for Credit. Is this still correct?

To the best of my knowledge and understanding, either yes that is the case, or, they can use the same HP for both purposes, assuming if a HP is needed to join.

Any advice you can provide on CLI would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I requested multiple CLIs every 3-4 months or more, and was able to build my CL from about $3k to $15k, over the course of about a year or maybe a little longer.  Please keep in mind though, every time you request a CLI, they will HP you.

Hi, please see comments above in blue font, based on my various experiences so far with apping and being approved for multiple Unify cards, hope the info is helpful for you Smiley Happy

ETA:  corrected typos.

Thank you very much, all this info helps me alot.

Thanks Galahad, this sets my perspective. I will need to garden a small greenhouse before I app for cards with them. But, I like Unify so far.

Galahad, can you pull some strings for me? I can get to the 740-750 range if they combine my EQ and TU scores. What say you, sir? Help a MyFICOer out?

Very sorry, but Unify apparently only uses EX, and the Score 2 version, rather than Score 8.  I actually tried myself as well earlier in the process (when I still had higher APRs and smaller CLs with Unify) to ask them if they could substitute either my EQ or TU scores and/or EX Score 8 -- all of which were higher at the time than my EX Score 2 -- and unfortunately, it was a no-go with them and they were unable to accommodate the request, since they said they pull EX Score 2 exclusively.  Again sorry, as I genuinely wish I had better news to report  Smiley Sad

Re: Unify CU Experts, I have a couple questions

Hello everyone!

I'm a new member here and have been reading those guides to become member of CU

I registered to be member of Friends of Hobbs and donated also, but my Unify application is pending for reviewing to become their member. Is it unusual?

By the way, I would like to thank everyone for their sharing info about those CU, this site is a sea of knowledge that you guys willing to share and I'm gladful to be part of it, and I would like to share mine so there are more info to help future new members.

I was able to become member of Penfed with online application and got instant approved for Penfed PCR 5k and Platinum 5k few days after that as well as got pre-approved for new auto loan 35k (I was asking from 25k - 35K, after they asked me few personal questions and I did answered wrong 1 or 2 of them and I said I didnot know because of certain reasons that question sounded not related to me, then they gave me a new set of questions). My score range around 750 all board with 2-5% utilization montly for the last 4 months.

Also, about Amex application, I would like to say thank you again. I checked the pre-approved screen, it popped up 3 products, BCE, Amex EveryDay and Amex Green. I applied online and got instant approve of BCE 10k, then I applied few minutes after that and got approved for Amex EveryDay for 1.4K, looks like only 1 pull for me.(Even though, I had 1 closed account with Amex about 8 years ago and the remarks on my report saying "Canceled by credit grantor". Now, I can't wait for 61 days to CLI my BCE

I also got approved for Alliant with online application and am waiting for the account number so I'll apply for their credit products.

I did not do no inquiry during 2016, 2 inquiries Feb 2017 then discover this site, ill have 3 inquiries will be dropped by the end of November

Again, I'm kinda sad little bit of not getting instant approved for membership of Unify. Did I do something wrong?
