Venmo CLI Denial DP

I've had the Venmo card since March with a $3500 SL and decided at the 6 month mark to ask for a CLI.  I did it through secure chat in the app where they asked me my income and what limit I'd like to request.  They came back a few hours later with a denial and a notice that a letter in the mail would explain the reason.

That letter just arrived and it says I haven't had the card long enough, so I'm maybe they want one year?  Or maybe I miscalculated 6 months by a day or two.  Either way, just a DP since I haven't seen many for tbe Venmo card and CLI's.

The earliest timeframe is typically 6 months -- give or take a few days from the actual approval date. That said, 6 months is not a guarantee, they may require some accounts to have longer history before they're eligible. This is somewhat similar to their PayPal 2% Cashback MC and the Verizon Visa, for example.

Yeah I understand that and it's fine, I just figured the DP may be useful since I don't see a heck of a lot about it.

it's by far my lowest card so I had wanted to bump it up a bit so if I actually put something on it I'm not getting high utilization.  It's my only synchrony card as well and I have ~800 credit and ~200k+ income.

I'll try again in another 6 months if the card is still useful at that point, which it may not be, at least for me.

I have a fresh dp.  After reading your post I decided to give it a try via phone robo lady.  Opened 2/21, first cli request 10/26.  Asked for $4.5k and was approved. New limit $10k.

Maybe try around 8 months. (?)

GL if you do.

Thanks!  I'll give it another shot via the phone lady then in a few weeks.  It's not a big deal anymore since I already shifted the spend away from it but I would like the option of using the card again more in the future!

You're welcome.  It's a little difficult requesting over the phone (for me it was).  Robo asks for the amt. of the next purchase.  No matter the amt. Ms. Robo will ask if that's the amt. you want to add to your cl.  I said no and then she asks again what would my purchase amt. be.  She asks again if this is what my cli should be and again I say no.  She says sorry again and she asked for the amt. of purchase yet another time.

Finally after a few "NO's" she asked what I wanted my cl to be.  Eureka!  I punched it in this time, to make sure Ms. Robo didn't misunderstand my southern accent, and it was immediately granted.  I was afraid it could go down like that so I recommend you use your keypad.

@uoyankee Also, it took several hours to reflect the new cl in my app.

Re: Venmo CLI Denial DP

@GApeachy Congratulations, and thanks for the DPs. Mine will be one year next month and I'd like to try then. What number did you call for the robolady, the CS number on the card? 855-878-6462

FICO 8 scores Nov/Jan 2021: EQ 779/751, TU 750/770, EX 763/746 Fully recovered from 5-year Ch13 discharged July 2018.
Last recorded: FNBO Evergreen and PSECU Founder's Card Dec 2021. Seriously out of date, at least 10 more since then.

Re: Venmo CLI Denial DP

As a followup DP to this, the ability to request a CLI has shown up for me in the app now.  I went ahead and requested 10k, from my 3.5k starting limit, and they came back with an approved higher limit of 7k.
