Wait for Barclay Ring?

I have decided that the next card I want is a Barclaycard Ring.  The 8% interest and $0 BT fee will be nice if I ever need to carry a balance.  I hesitate to apply, though, because I just got a Sallie Mae Mastercard a month ago anad I've read on here that Barclay's wants to see some history before giving out a 2nd card.

My TU is ~710, with 6 new accounts reporting (will be 7 in a few weeks).

Should I apply now before the 7th new account reports, or is it no use since my SM is so new?  Also, if I wait until December or so to let my SM age a bit, will Barclay's dislike all my new accounts?

Re: Wait for Barclay Ring?

Barclays is fairly generous right now however if it were me I would wait a few months esp seeing how many new accts you have.  Spend a lot on your current BC and make multiple monthly payments prior to applying for the new card.

Re: Wait for Barclay Ring?

Definitely wait, Barclays is sensitive to new accounts. Use your SM well, and try for the Ring in 6 months or so. It's more of a "just in case I need to carry a balance" card, so there's no need to rush it.

I don't think you should apply at this point.

1. Ring is the hardest Barclay card to get.

2. Barclays hates applicants who have a lot of new accounts.

3. Barclays hates a lot of inquiries.

4. Barclays doesn't like to give out too many Barclays accounts to a single user.

5. Your TU FICO isn't high enough for the Ring's standards. Some people have gotten it at that score, but I'll bet they weren't people with so many new accounts and inquiries.

6. Theoretically you should wait a year. If you can't bring yourself to wait that long wait at least 6 months, but I doubt that will be long enough for them.
