Thats a good plan.  It can be very depressing getting into all these snags.  But gardening is key in the credit game.  A time will come and you will laugh at all these rejections and even ask yourself, what was i thinking.  That time comes for everyone.  It just takes time.

Yep... for me that time was about 2 weeks ago when I went 6 for 6 with 4 new accounts and 2 CLI's totalling about $20k in new credit... doubling my previous total.

This was after multiple denials in late 2013 which had me gardening for 2014.

I have 23 INQ's on TU...  3 from 2014 that were all approvals.

20 from 2013.  12 of which were denials.

Barclays approved me for Sallie Mae with all those INQ's...  but only 2 were recent.

So yeah... gardening is required.

@TRC_WA,

Bravo and congrats.  We all started small.  But the key is being very very strategic when scores are higher.  Waiting for scores to get higher = approvals and higher limits.  At that time, rejection is a thing of the past.

Yep... I lurked these forums a few months prior to joining.  I've learned a lot and try to pass on the advice.

The plan for 2015 is the same as 2014... garden for the year and evaluate my profile in December.  No plans for credit this year other than possibly a vehicle trade which will be 1 INQ with my CU.

Re: Walmart -- Advice?

I just called them -- it was a denial.

Said he couldn't give me any info because of privacy. Said to wait for the letter.

IMHO you need to garden what you have.

No apps for a minimum of 6 months... preferably a year.  It's not that difficult if you are motivated to improve your credit.  You have enough credit to rebuild your scores... so garden what you have and try again in 2016.

Re: Walmart -- Advice?

So......not to beat a dead horse or anything -- I was actually okay with a denial from Walmart.

But - today, I get an email -- stating they have a secure message for me.

I logged in, and there was the denial letter ---- but the reason was PRIOR APPLICATION SUBMITTED TOO RECENTLY.

-- UH....last I checked, last time I apped for Walmart was years ago...

I am wondering ----- I know they don't do recons, but should I call??

Re: Walmart -- Advice?

You can try, I've never heard of anyone succesfully reconning them though. Almost all people denied for Walmart remain denied. I'm not trying to discourage you just trying to save you from probably unnessecary hassle.

I would try again later. It sounds like there could be a glitch as far as recent application, but I don't know if it would be able to be reconned.
