A couple of days ago, I applied for the Walmart Credit Card and received the following message:
"We appreciate your interest in Walmart Credit Card - it will take 7-10 days to get back to you.
For now, here's your application's reference number for your records: XXXXX"
I'm assuming this is a denial, right?
My TU credit score is about a 590 so I know it was kind of a long shot to apply, but Walmart is the only big store in my teeny tiny town so I'm in there three to four times a week. I likely should have waited to apply, but my app finger was getting a little itchy. My student loans are currently in rehab which is likely what's killing my score. The only item reporting on my credit report was my CapOne SC - $200 limit, 44% utlization (opened in February).
End of July I was approved for CapOne Platinum - $500 and Fingerhut with $600, but neither are reporting on my TU report.
I also just got the NY&C Credit Card ($400) and Express Credit Card (not sure of the limit until I can sign up for an account once I get the card).
Thanks in advance
I am sorry to hear about the denial. I would allow those other cards to report and in about a month or so when your scores have reached the 600 tier, I would reapply. 590 is a bit low. I was approved with a 640 credit score.

I did get a message like that when I applied, but when I called for recon, they just needed to verify my identity and I was approved. With your CS and all your recent credit apps, it may be different, but there is always some hope if you call.

How long did you wait to recon?
Cheryl
Unless it says you have been denied you are still in the running. Most likely they need more time because of your recent approvals making a mess of your report and them needing a person to look at it instead of the computer. I recently got a call in notice from Blispay and am still going around and around with them for the last 2-3 weeks even though my FICO is way higher than what they need to approve.

Thanks for all of the replies, guys
Just got my official denial letter this morning in my email. Here were the denial reasons:
SERIOUS DELINQUENCY
NUMBER OF ACCOUNTS PAID AS AGREED
NUMBER OF ACCOUNTS WITH DELINQUENCY
RATIO OF BALANCES TO CREDIT LIMITS ON REVOLVING ACCOUNTS
Can't say I'm surprised, but really did have my fingers crossed. The deliquency and number of accounts with deliquency are from my student loans seeing as one student loan has three different lines on my CR. And when I applied, I just had my CapOne Secured card showing up with 44% utilization (once my next statements posts on the 7th, this will be less than 10%).
Do you think it's worth reconning or should I just hold off for a couple more months for everything to report and apply again?

I called their recon immediately after I got the 7-10 day message to see if there was any information they needed to help my application.
YES call for recon, what do you have to lose a denial? You may get it you may not. They may just give you a low CL so you have a foot in the door. But definatly call for recon, i don't understand why anyone would not???
