Just wanted to give a heads-up that Walmart appears to be doing a standard 7-10 day message to anyone who they detect giving only a cell phone as a number on applications.
I just called in on a 7-10 day message and had the CS/Verification rep do to me what they've done to many others. She sent me a text and I had to give her the code over the phone. Once I'd done that, she gave me the official approval for $500.
I asked if the cell phone being listed as our only phone was the sole reason for my 7-10 day message and she said yes. She said that if their system detected a cell phone number as your only number that you would be given that message. You would be expected to call within the 7-10 day time frame for that verification. If you didn't, you'd get a denial.
She also told me what others have been told. They give low limits initially but that once I've confirmed receipt of the card then we can call back in & ask for an immediate CLI. They just won't give a high initial credit limit for security reasons.
And with that approval...I'm now going back into the garden. For real this time. ![]()
Good info, thanks for sharing!
Well ive had my walmart a year and only have had a cell phone for 10 years no home phone. never issue with any lender however. now that you mention it. my brother who has pre paid cell phone has issues all the time.
I know the phone companies are listing numbers in a database to cross check if the cell phone belongs to you. if you are there. maybe this is how they will give you the 7-10 day message. ive never ever had an issue with my cell. although the last year i also have home phone. but i rarely ever give that number out because no one to answer it anyway.

I applied in store on Sat. and got a $1400 credit limit.
Most of the time it is better to apply for a store card in store as it eliminates the verification issues unless you were prequalified.
I applied for both Walmart and Sam's Club cards today. Walmart got an instant approval of $1000(called and got a CLI to $3500). For the Sam's Club card, I had to call in, and the CSR sent me a text with a code to confirm the application. I only got a $637(odd number) SL but at least it was an approval. No go on a CLI, called 3 times
