Great news! I have 3 Synchrony cards: Walmart, Amazon, and Dick's. Got all 3 the same day, and have had them all for less than a year.
Startng limits:
Walmart: $500
Amazon: $1,000
Dicks: $750
As of earlier today:
Walmart: $900
Amazon: $3,500
Dick's: $2,000
What's funny is that I got these all on the same day and use them quite a bit, except for Dick's which I've only used a few times. I paid off a few other cards and improved my score recently, so figured it was time to hit the love button. Hit it for Amazon and Denied. I use the online chat to see why and the agent couldn't tell me. They did however try the request again, and boom -- up'd my limit from $3,500 to $5,000!
Excited by this, I then went to Walmart and did the same thing. Denied with the love button, chatted with customer service and boom -- up'd from $900 to $4,000!
Then I went to Dick's figuring this was a shoe-in. Denied love button. Denied customer chat. Annoyed, tried the backdoor phone number and you guessed it -- denied. Hmm...
All-in-all pretty happy. Wondering if I was denied for Dick's because of the two CLI's on the Walmart and Amazon card, or because I don't use Dick's much, or both?
Question for you all: I'm thinking about applying for the Lowe's card now (would be useful for me.) Am I likely to be denied given all of the above? Should I hold off?
Thanks!
Careful going Sync crazy, even if they approve you, there's an internal limit that may get triggered which can lead to all your accounts being closed with no warning. I'd consider closing the Dick's card if you don't use it and then get the Lowe's card.

I would hold off to be honest. You've had a lot of CLI "activity" on your current Synchrony cards. I wouldn't poke the bear for a bit.
Thanks for the advice guys. I like the "poking the bear" analogy. Holding off sounds like a good idea.
What's a good length of time to hold off? 3 months?
I'll keep the Dick's because I do plan on using it more come spring.

They're known for doing that like Comenity? Didn't know that, thanks for the tip!

I would think spacing things out always helps to avoid being picked up on the radar. I'm thinking around 3 months or so should be good timeframe to apply for Lowes. This way, any accounts you recently obtained CLIs would have the opportunity to demonstrate periodic use and more history.

Surely wouldn't be out of the question. You've built some history with them. You have a great chance of an approval.
If apping online. The higher the TU the better the limit. Same if apping in store except EX would be pulled instead. Lowes does grow fast, even if the limit starts off low.
Are those your current FICO score?
I need to udpate the scores. I've been waiting for my reports to update since paying down my utilization from 68% to 19%. Only a few pay-offs appear, so it hasn't jumped as high as I assume it will once those other cards update.
Thanks for the TU tip, I'll keep an eye on that one. You think apply for the Lowe's once my score catches up, or still hold off for a bit like others have mentioned above?

Think of a CLI in the same fashion as "new" credit origination. If income review, internal CL or other adverse factors get triggered at the same time, anything can be possible. Not to sound an alarm or anything of the sort, but just something to be aware with some lenders.

Definitely good food for thought. Appreciate it!
