Re: Well, thanks anyway Cap One..

This is why last year people were opening Venture accounts with high limits because their other Capital ones were so weak even though their credit health and other limits had grown dramatically. With the account combination option that makes it very worthwhile

That is the work around you have to do with a lot of the Chase account as well. If you're going to get hard pull on cli might as well try for a card with a bonus and work limits around in the future.

I have not seen the pretty girl with the balloons in quite some time but I am not using my Quicksilver like I used to either

Re: Well, thanks anyway Cap One..

My issue is that I don't see any value in any of CO's other products at the moment.  Venture does nothing for me; I don't ever travel really and whenver I do everything is pre-paid and covered by my employer so I would never be able to use my card for plane tickets, hotels, etc.

My QS card is sitting in the SD and will remain there until CO offers a new product, hopefully a non-travel card with a better/unique rewards structure compared to the QS.  A 2% general spend card (like Blispay) is better than the QS which is why I find no value in using it any longer... but if CO came out with a rotating category type card along the lines of Discover or Chase Freedom it would be something that would perk my interest.  Unfortunately, rotating category rewards cards seem to be on their way out if anything, not in.

Re: Well, thanks anyway Cap One..

I'm with BBS
I sometimes forget I even have a couple of Cap-1 cards
Just not that excited about using them, I do like the look of my QS but basically the aging aspect and the additional move provided by having the non used volume is about why I keep em around, all be it in the SD .. Oh and the APR stinks comparably...

Navy's cashRewards gives the same cash back among others, just no reason to heavy spend through them chasing big CLI when others really don't seem to "need" such behavior...

I'm also convinced, lenders or maybe certain product line absolutely 'brand' you based upon the door or window you initially came in on

Like in school, when kids are forever labeled a "scholarship" kid or a "reduced lunch" kid from 'that' side of the tracks or not

Is that guy a 5-star guy or a walk-in...many times kid really needs to transfer to get the respect he may deserve by now, unfortunate but obviously some lenders see it the same way

Gemini101 great post and excellent analogy with the kid in school.  I think this is a great example of how CO views their customers based on how they came on board at the time of approval.
