The Active Cash is next on my list. I'm just waiting until early March to apply. Hoping I'll score the x3 CLI on my AMEX to help push the Active Cash card SL up some. I also have about 10 years with WF on my primary checking which I tend to keep a decent balance in at any give time. Maybe that will get some mileage. Scores are around 710 on all 3 so I'm hoping that will be enough. Only issue is short history and only 3 cards (secured Discover last Aug, Cap1 Quicksilver One last Sept. and an AMEX Blue Cash Everyday last Nov.).

I did have a long-term banking relationship with WF, which I'm sure helped.
It's been an accepted truism that being an established client of theirs does improve odds of approval.

From what I remember, I've always heard WF is pretty generous with starting limits and im hoping having an account with them will help my chances (as it did with Peoples Bank). I've been rebuilding my credit to where I am finally approaching 700, but i'm still stuck with a few smaller limit cards and would really like to expand my profile with some higher limits.
I'm wondering if I'm better off staying put for now or looking in a different direction for a CC.
I never heard of WF being very generous with SL or CLIs, the opposite in fact, they have been very conservative. I hope you have better luck, Citi DC (now that they're dropping the minimum to redeem) and some category cards make more sense to me.
What banks do you use? Do any offer SP CLI? That way you could increase the limits without reducing your score with a hard pull.
Paying (except $1) before your statements would increase your chance of a CLI too (and a higher limit) as it would increase your score.
You can most likely include your fiance's income, which would also increase your limits. Many banks let you update income, which can trigger an auto-CLI, even if they don't offer SP CLI.
Good Luck!
Anyone who has applied for the card tell me how long did it take for the card be delivered after approval.

As I recall, it was more than 1 week, less than 2. I don't remember which state it was sent from (I live in California).
I was able to get the card added to my Apple Wallet through the WF app before it arrived, so I did get some use out of it before it came in the mail.
FWIW, I just got approved for over 10k. Ficos in the mid/high 700s and 100k stable income. Surprisingly enough, this despite having a prior foreclosure with WF (no longer showing on reports) so it appears they have no internal blacklists.

Hi, Did they approve you instantly? Or went into pending first.
I heard that WF is conservative and it is hard to get a CC with them if you do not bank with them. I read in this forum even people with excellent credit getting rejects.

My experience with how much WF puts into account history when approving credit cards has been mixed, and I'm not really sure how much of a difference it has made for me in getting approved and in setting SLs. I've been a banking customer with them since 2005.
I was declined for a (now-discontinued) Platinum Visa card with them in late winter 2021 after they did a manual review to confirm some information (they never did ask me for additional info). Less than 8 months later, I was approved instantly for the Active Cash at a SL of $4500, with a much better credit profile/scores. My previous highest card at that point was for $2,000.
I suspect that my banking history helped me get the higher SL, although I suspect they may probably would have approved me anyway, possibly at a lower SL. Perhaps my only way to find out would be to take someone from WF out to a bar and hope they handle liquor worse than I do. 🥴
I don't have a record of my FICO scores when I applied for the Platinum, but I believe my VantageScore 3.0s were somewhere in the 630s or below. The fact that I applied in the first place with that kind of unhappy credit profile probably tells you everything you need to know about how much I knew about credit card applications back then.
In contrast, my Experian FICO 9 score around the time I was approved was 689. (The HP was for Experian, and it's my understanding that WF uses F9 for credit card approvals.)
Hi,
Wanted to give my experience about a recent application and this is meant as a data point only for someone looking to apply.
Had Credit score in the 800 mark, comibined household income of 150k with less than 5% utilization.
Have discover, Amex and chase freedom with 30K limits.
Was skeptical at first about the SL as I had read wells fargo was conservative on SL if you do not have a relationship with them. Did not have a relationship with wells fargo, credit card or checking accounts. Had a checking account with them some years back, but closed it within a year of opening.
Decided to apply for it anyway. They only pulled experian and was instantly approved for a 30K SL. Card arrived in about 10 days after approcal. Look like they do try to match the highest limit on other accounts.
Hope this helps someone.
I applied just now after receving a piece of mail saying "you're invited to apply." They provided a reservation number so I decided to pull the trigger. Received immediate notification from EQ that they were checking. Approved for $2K with 599 score and about 4% overall utilization. Prior to pulling the trigger, I had 8 inquiries on EQ (went on crazy app spree--this is the LAST for me). $176 on Cap One card; all else zero balances reporting; total available credit of approximately $20K. Time to sit down on a stool in the garden and chill. Oh, almost forgot to add that I am AU on 4 amex accounts (total available credit = $30K on those). Two baddies that are about 6 years old.
